Some linguists are saying Pence wrote the NYT op-ed. Which is kinda interesting if true.

https://gritpost.com/bbc-linguistics-mike-pence/
Just because the op-ed contained one word that Pence has been known to bandy about? Seems pretty specious to me.

underlying French's rebuke is the long established DC norm that when the President you work for is, in your view, not acting in the best interests of the country, you loudly and publicly resign. You create a controversy, offer your testimony to the Congress, and suffer the resulting character assassination and end of your career.
True, provided the anonymous source had the best interests of the country in mind rather than their own.

Who would become POTUS if Trump's presidency ended ahead of schedule?

Become POTUS or the country's lodestar? It hasn't escaped attention that Pence has been fundraising.

The problem with the anonymity is that we don't really know what the motivations are. For all we know, Trump's people may be playing the Times a la Judith Miller on Saddam's weapons of mass destruction.

It's a great distraction from the Kavanaugh hearings.

Whoever it is, and whatever their motivation or ethical position, it simply contributes more to the most chaotic spectacle of US leadership failure ever. The prestige of the US, from any overseas perspective, is in absolute tatters...

And no. I didn't post this in the wrong thread.

I remember when the Republicans absolutely flipped their lids once because Obama didn't wear a damn flag pin. They also went ballistic when he bowed a little too far for the Japanese PM. Now this Trump administration is the biggest shitshow dumpsterfire I've ever seen, and the Republicans love it!

The only feasible explanation is that I must be in a coma, dreaming that I'm in a Twilight Zone episode. This is all just too crazy to be real.

Completely. The sad thing is that these "revelations" are nothing more than Trump being Trump. His failings were on display for years, and readily apparent during the campaign. It enforces the old adage that "nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

Pence says the NYT op-ed was an obvious attempt to distract Americans from a booming economy and that he almost definitely has not discussed removing Trump via the 25th with anyone...
