Plan for incentives to increase takeup, while study shows two Pfizer doses give 94% protection
Israel is considering a carrot and stick approach to persuade people to get vaccinated, including granting inoculated people access to restaurants, hotels and concerts, while forcing some vaccine refusers to get uncomfortable Covid tests every two days.
“Will you be eligible to enter gyms and cultural events, or will you be left behind?” tweeted the health minister, Yuli Edelstein. “Go get vaccinated!”
Meanwhile, the health ministry has expanded a digital taskforce to combat anti-vax misinformation online, hoping to block false claims before they spread. Trackers now monitor social media daily, and in several languages.
Israel’s vaccination campaign is being closely watched by other governments that see it as a test case for what lies ahead.
The country is also providing vital data on the impact of the jabs, with initial results largely positive. A study released on Sunday by the country’s largest healthcare provider indicated the Pfizer/BioNTech jab offered 94% protection against Covid-19. Clalit Health Services said its researchers tested 600,000 patients who had received the recommended two doses and a similar-sized control group.

The undeniable history of gain of function research, Wuhan's lab, etc.
I would expect some would rather chant 'follow the science' over actually looking into the specific claims. That's ok. Always have been lots more people singing along, than composing music.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Nah, but it means he and Heying do a better job explaining gain of function research than you.
They know more about the history of that research than you acknowledge.
They also know more about funding paths around that research, and what lab bosses got nervous when the virus was first recognized.
But you have sarcastic personal attacks. I know which I find more interesting and useful.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Just as well, since I never attempted to explain gain of function.
Using my skill to steelman stuff I guess gain of function means SARS-CoV-2 was developed in Wuhan's laboratory, rather than evolved outside it, and either escaped from there accidentally or was intentionally released from there. Weinstein and Heyling know with 90% certainty, or more, what happens in Wuhan because of their knowledge concerning gain of function. Gain of function explains a lot more than people like me credit it with.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Guess all you want. It shows whether you, or Mr. Weinstein knows more about this subject.
If you wanted to know about it, you could. Easily. It must be political, or something, that leaves you so far behind on a subject so relevant to current events.
Gain of function research, <redacted>
I was going to give you the brief, but the phrase itself is good enough, if you think a minute or two. I don't want to.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Let me steelman once again: Gain of function makes it 90% certain (or more) that SARS-CoV-2 was developed in Wuhan's laboratory, rather than evolved outside it, and either escaped from there accidentally or was intentionally released from there. OK, I must admit to some holes in my steelmanning argument, but it's the best I could manage. Thanks for not spackling them.Cunt wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 3:51 pmGuess all you want. Re: The Coronavirus Thread
It would probably be easier to 'steelman' an argument, if you had heard it first.
You would probably understand what 'gain of function' research was, if you wanted to.
So is this trolling? Or just you spackling yourself?
Oh, and it is just barely possible that you were led into misunderstanding Weinstein's '90%' comment. I can't help you though, because he explains himself much better than I can.

He's trying to overman you.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I'm impressed with the understanding you have displayed about gain of function research. It shows very clearly how far off the 'mainstream media' pap you wander in your understanding of viruses and modern research.

Schwartz you more like.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
So Cuomo lied, and a bunch of old people died. Then, he lied some more.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I saw that story on CNN three days ago. Cuomo lied about the numbers of people who dies in nursing homes and repeated criticism for patients from hospitals being brought into nursing homes. So, there is no media silence.
