I think it might have had had the victims of the fire been blamed en masse for setting it.

If you really want to blame Scousers for a footballing tragedy, try Heysel. Hillsborough was completely different; a fuck-up by the authorities, compounded by an attempted cover-up that ran all the way to No. 10.
I also think that Bradford got overshadowed by Heysel, which was less than 3 weeks later.

When a train is late on the London underground, do people get pushed onto the rail lines?
Actually tube staff close the station or at least stop people entering so very bad example. If they didn't you can basically guarantee fatalities when people do end up on the rail lines.

Basically some platforms would become a death trap during the rush hour within 15 minutes without fast response from staff and if they failed to do London Underground would get sued
I've got no recollection of that ever happening, so I'm guessing that that is your own opinion.

There are special circumstances on the underground, in that you have fast-moving high-volume escalators in many stations, taking high volumes of people down to the trains.

Obviously, once you get on an escalator, you have no option of stopping, so you will be pushing people at the bottom, whether you like it or not, if there is a blockage there.
That's a very real crush hazard, but it's not the behavior of the passengers that's the danger.

I think that there might be emergency stop buttons on the escalators, but I wouldn't think you could rely on the public using them.

This is an American news report on the Heysel Stadium disaster, which gives some idea of how Liverpool fans could behave at the time :

It's not an opinion its something that regularly happens, I've been on both sides of it. Not allowed into the station due to over crowding and been on dangerous overcrowded delayed stations praying that someone does something.

In crowded environments without crowd management people die, the crowds don't have to do anything their lives are in the hands of others.

Doesnt even have to be underground, I remember at Christmas there have been one way walking in the West End. If you wanted to turn around you had to cross to the other side of the street. One of the reasons is the pavement/side-walks were so crowded that to turn around risked people getting crushed to death. Haven't' lived in London for a few years now and I suspect its a bit better with internet shopping and lower shopping numbers

Maybe Ratz should issue report cards, like in high school. :ask:

No, have it like the soccer/football. It would be appropriate. Red card for MM and SD. Yellow card for Hackenslash. :awesome:

No, that's not ok either, and FBM made a general comment asking the relevant posters to tone things down here as a result. It obviously didn't work.

Would you guys please focus on discussing the merits of opinions rather than indulge in casting aspersions regarding the holder of said opinions? The latter lead to tedious flame wars, and none of them add merit to whatever opposing opinions are held to be true.
