There's a lot more to queueing than standing in line. I wouldn't expect foreigners to understand.

And why would you take the silly game of throwball, and call it football? Especially when there is already a proper game called football.
Another reason why the US and UK can't possibly merge. We wouldn't change the name of our sport of football, and we wouldn't expect the Brits to start calling their game soccer. Besides, the professional leagues would both suffer. The UK wouldn't produce crap as far as decent football players go - heck, I doubt even London would care to get an NFL expansion team. And the states still aren't producing many top-level soccer players, considering many of us still think of it as a children's game.
And compared to football, soccer is a children's game. :hmph:

Agreed. In America it IS a childrens game. Because American throwball is a fat person's game.
Real football is for thin people, yes, and children. Because they are able to run, and don't need to stop for a five minute breather, after every ten seconds.

So of course, real football will never replace throwball in the US. Too many of the fat fuckers would die.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

In the interest of fairness, I must say that Britain has given the world snooker, which is superior to all other "games of cue". Taken on it's own, however, this is not sufficient for statehood.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Britain would not be a state. The USA would become a county. Like a slightly larger version of Rutland.

Dammit, someone from the USA who appreciates snooker. Has the world gone mad? :what:

I bought a set of snooker balls for the pool table, unfortunately it's only an 8 by 4 table so the game is a bit easier than on a regulation table. The best part is no one in the U.S. knows the rules, so I can just make them up. "Sorry, that shot is only legal on Tuesdays, and you must stand on one leg while whistling Rule Britannia".

I win ALL the time.

We have every reason to expect the Brits to call their game soccer. The English were the first to call the game soccer in the first place. The word soccer was coined in England, not in the US and it was used by English college students in the late 1800s to distinguish Association Football from Rugby Football. Association -- AsSOCiation -- Soc-er Football -- Rugby -- Rugg-er Football. Rugger Football became Rugby. There was no other popular kind of football there so Association Football or Soccer Football became just Football. In the US, Rugger Football became more popular, and Soccer Football never took off much, so we dropped the Rugger part, and just called it football. And Soccer football remained, but was just called Soccer.

Add to that, the Canadians and the Ozzies call soccer soccer, and football football, with the Ozzies having Ozzie Rules Football and the Canucks having Canadian Football. I think just a few years ago the Ozzies officially changed their nomenclature to call soccer football "soccer" instead of football. If the Ozzies can do it, so can the Brits. And, since the Brits were the first ones to call it soccer, then it must, of course, be the proper name for the game -- as we all know, the Brits would never have done something if it wasn't the best and most appropriate thing to do. Therefore, Soccer it is ! Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

Undeniable logic. :levi:

Still, we couldn't expect Brits to produce many decent football players. Then again, I grew up in New England and not too many are churned out of there, either.

Brady Quinn -- Quarterback -- can bench 224 pounds 24 times.... Image

By way of example.

The bigger guys up front on the offensive line can have some bulk, but they are quite athletic and quick.

I think we should call New England "England" and make the Brits call their England "Old England." :smoke:

Most English people I've met don't pronounce their 'h'. I'm not sure what he's talking about.
