Republicans confused. The Democratic party emails were hacked. Hillary's server was never hacked.

This was predicted--Republican politicians who voted against Democratic bills like the infrastructure bill are now trying to get some credit for the money coming to their constituencies. Two recent examples: Representative Nancy Mace voted against the infrastructure bill after calling it 'absurd,' a 'fiasco,' and 'socialism,' but is now in South Carolina to promote a project funded by the bill. Biden twits Senator Tuberville for celebrating broadband infrastructure after voting against the bill. They won't be the only ones. :td:

"No one is going to fight like a mom is going to fight for her kid," said Tiffany Justice, a co-founder of Moms For Liberty. "I think the parent vote is going to be huge."

The group claims 120,000 members in 44 states.

DeSantis and the 'mama bears'
Looking toward the election, DeSantis said "parents across the country" will "finally fight back."

What are the Moms For Liberty?
Justice and fellow co-founder Tina Descovich, former members of local school boards in Florida, started Moms for Liberty in 2021 after COVID restrictions closed classrooms and created in-home learning via Zoom.

Organizers said parents were being ignored when they objected to items ranging from the promotion of Black history and diversity to transgender and LGBQT policies.

Moms For Liberty has played big roles in electing like-minded supporters to offices across the country, particularly school boards. One of their most publicized successes came near Philadelphia in suburban Bucks County, Pa.

Bethany Mandel, 37, co-author of a book called "Stolen Youth: How Radicals Are Erasing Innocence and Indoctrinating a Generation." said many parents across the country believe their children are being subjected to false values by school officials and government bureaucrats.

"People are like, 'you don't own my children,'" said Mandel, who lives in Montgomery County, Md.

Some people said they attended the meeting to see what Moms For Liberty is all about.

Amy Davis, 45, a nurse from nearby Berwyn, Pa., said she wanted to learn more about "the drama, the anger, (and) the theatrics"of the issues under discussion.

"There's a lot of spin," she said. "I kind of want to figure it out myself."

Outside the Philadelphia Marriott Downton, far from the fifth-floor ballroom where Moms For Liberty held general sessions, protesters chanted things like "get out of my city!" and "get out of my state!"

Kel Smith, 40, who works for a non-profit in Philadelphia, and Lydia Tseng, 39, a local teacher, said Moms for Liberty and the candidates who are lobbying them are encouraging people to indulge in hatred of people of color, gays and lesbians, and transgender people.

They and other protestors cited the high suicide rates for transgender children caught in the middle of a political maelstrom.

"Kids are dying because of what they're pushing," Tseng said.

When in Israel, David, Clare and Tilly watched a gay pride parade, which was apparently very colourful and happy. Clare took a video of Tilly on David's shoulders, wiggling around delightedly and waving a gay pride rainbow flag! Apparently she was a big hit with many in the parade - she bought the flag back home, and dances around waving it! :D

I believe the pride parade in Gaza is a hell of a spectacle :coffee:

From what David told me, such parades (in Tel Aviv at least) play it safe by avoiding certain neighbourhoods...

Republican judge insists lies have to be told on social media. Biden wrong, Fauci wrong. Chloroquin good.
Doughty’s ruling appears to take effect immediately, but it isn’t a final decision on the suit and can be appealed by the Biden administration to the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The Justice Department declined to comment on the ruling Tuesday. A spokesperson for the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The judge’s decision cites a wide range of topics that he says “all were suppressed” on social media at the urging of administration officials, including opposition to Covid vaccines, masking, lockdowns and the lab-leak theory; opposition to the validity of the 2020 election; opposition to President Joe Biden’s and other officials’ policies; and statements claiming that the story surrounding a laptop belonging to Biden’s son Hunter Biden was true.

The 5th Circuit is one of the most conservative US circuit courts of appeal. Though the article claims this judge was previously 'rebuked' by that court, all they really did was refuse to back his willingness to over-reach. I would expect them to uphold this decision.

In any event, it seems to me that pernicious lies on social media are protected by the First Amendment. I don't know that I would agree that there was actual 'pressure' from the Biden administration and federal law enforcement on social media outlets, but 'requests' could be construed as such. Despite the judge's over the top rhetoric, I think he's correct in essence. Whether he would have made the same decision if it were a Republican administration being accused of nibbling at the First Amendment, I would not care to bet.
