Re: Kavanaugh hearing
These are the times, when we have a narcissist acting as a right winger so people would like him.

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
He's said Roe v Wade is settled law, so he might disappoint the anti-abortion crowd. His infamous Abortion Case over the minor illegal immigrant having access to abortion is the only abortion case he's ever ruled on, he was overruled by the full court, and his opinion had nothing at all to do with the legality of abortion in general. It that's all they've got, along with that utterly ridiculous article Joe posted, and some high school and college beers then hello, Justice Kavanaugh.
It's a high stakes game, somebody is going to lose hard, and payback is going to be a motherfucker no matter who comes out on top.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Kavanaugh hearing
Yeah, this is why I value trying to understand the other side. Whoever is in charge now, they might not be later.
I for one would MUCH rather have strict religious conservatives in, as opposed to sharia law.
I mean, it's an extreme example, but having listened to those supporting sharia, the republican religious nutters are SWEETHEARTS.
Whatever happens, yeah, payback is going to take a lot of energy. Energy which could be spent on something more important.
Like a good donkey sex video...it's been too long since the chubby pants off guy video.

They use a lot of imagination. If nothing else works, use the ”commerce clause.”
Not a fan of the Supreme Court.

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
Oh, and I don't think his accepting that it is 'settled law' changes anything. Couldn't he still come at it differently, by decreeing that the states have the night to govern themselves on this, rather than the federalis?

It's settled unless the Supreme Court accept it for further consideration - when it could be settled some more.

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
Fast forward
Kavanaugh in 2019: We worked on the new case before the court and we have had to consider everything again. The majority ruling is that Roe vs Wade was not based on sound interpretation of the Constitution.
Kansas is now free to ban abortion clinics.

That's what I'm saying, Tero. I don't think it was done right.
The states may indeed have the right to handle that bit of legislation. If that is the case, all the federal precedents will have to be tossed in favour of a new fight.
All with Kavanaugh never attacking RvW
Would you like to accept a 6'2" middle-aged man going to events and parties with your 6 year old girl? Growing up with your grandkids? Sound good?

Yeah the commerce clause is a favorite of Big Government shills, it's the only way to extend Federal control into a lot of areas. It's how they kept me from selling my beef biltong.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
SCOTUS rarely decreases Federal control. If you kick abortion down to state level then a host of other shit gets suspect real fast. I thought we settled that State's Rights thing in 1865.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Kavanaugh hearing
I admit not knowing, but generally, when some issue is as polarizing as abortion, there are attacks from unexpected areas.

Drinking is very common. Getting in fights is very uncommon. One is considered socially acceptable, the other definitely isn't.Forty Two wrote: ↑Tue Oct 02, 2018 1:45 pmAre we really going to suggest that Kavanaugh is the first SCOTUS Justice, President, Congressperson, who was in a bar room fight or got drunk? Also, everyone lies too, so lying about it is ok as well.
The Democrats recently were lauding the honorable career of John McCain, who they lamented was not the leader of the GOP of late -- so honorable - such a fearless, wonderful leader.... but when he was in the military and as a high school and college age young man he repeatedly got in fights and drank and the like.
John McCain and Hillary Clinton bragged about having a "drinking contest" in Estonia - doing shots of vodka.
John Adams drank hard cider for breakfast. William Henry Harrison sullied Martin Van Buren's name, calling him an alcoholic, and Van Buren used to drink so much he was nicknamed Blue Whisky Van and would drink solidly for days. Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan - both hard drinkers all their lives - not just as young men, but during their presidencies. Ulysses S Grant won the Civil War drunk.
Come the fuck on, people. Really? Has everyone gone fucking bonkers?
What is happening to everyone?

And is the aggression limited to other males, or is it directed at females too?
