Trump’s lawyers go after 17-year-old girl’s cat website

IN AN effort to practise her coding, a 17-year-old girl from San Francisco designed a silly website about kittens. The online world is filled to the brim with content about cats, so it seemed like a harmless and inconsequential exercise, right?

Well evidently US president Donald Trump disagrees.

Lucy is the young girl behind the website called kittenfeed.com but despite its modest traffic, it has attracted the ire of her commander in chief.

That’s because the only thing the website offered visitors was the ability to virtually scratch at photos of Mr Trump’s head using the paws of a kitten.

The teenager built the website in February for a laugh while applying for web developer jobs, she said. It was originally called trumpscratch.com but a few weeks ago she received a cease and desist letter from The Trump Organisation, according to Observer which claims to have seen the letter.

The document informed Lucy that her website infringed on the “internationally known and famous” Trump trademark.



But even the name change to kittenfeed.com has not been sufficient to appease Mr Trump’s lawyers and Lucy has reportedly been sent a second threatening letter because the site harboured a link that took users to an Amazon page where they could buy an anti-Trump T-shirt.

Lucy — like many others on social media since the story broke — has been left bewildered by the actions of the Trump Organisation.

“I really just want people to be aware that this is a president who’s clearly more concerned about what people think of him than doing things of substance,” she told Hollywood Reporter.

“The fact that as president he still has teams going around bothering to shut down silly sites like mine is outrageous.”

The so-called leader of the free world has a lot of issues to deal with — a nuclear North Korea, controversial national healthcare reform, an FBI investigation into his team’s ties with Russia, climate change and an increasingly emboldened China, just to name a few.

But his team has clearly still found time to sweat the small stuff.

“Literally all my site is, is punching him with kitten paws. A president should not have the time or care to hire people to shut sites like mine down,” Lucy said.

She has complied with the requests of the letters but has taken a further swipe at her billionaire president by adding a new tagline to the website: “Trump seems tough at first, but he gets weaker with every scratch.”

However at the time of writing, the website has been taken down.

Hmm. Despite the efforts of the White House PR machine this doesn't seem to be going away, and it seems increasingly apparent that everything the PR team is doing and saying around the HIC investigation is designed to undermine the HIC investigation and the inquiry process.

Let's remember that the remit of the HIC investigation is to examine the 'credible evidence' supplied by the FBI/CIA etc not that Russia played a part in effecting the 2016 election--that's pretty much an established fact now--but if there was communication, co-ordination, or collusion between the Trump campaign and said Russian operatives. The HIC investigation was not set up to examine evidence for Trump's claim that ("sick or bad") Obama ordered surveillance on Trump Tower (which HIC ranking Democrats and Republicans have refuted publicly) and the fact that executive branch sources are now apparently supplying the investigation's chairman with (undisclosed and undisclosable) material which Trump claims 'vindicates' him is highly suspicious - highly suspicious - particular after the president pre-reported that evidence would be found even before he had a personal, private briefing about the ongoing investigation from its Republican chairman. The idea that the alleged material is so security sensitive that it cannot be shared with the other members of the House Intelligence Committee and could or can only be viewed on White House grounds is, quite frankly, ludicrous - the HIC have security clearance at the very highest level as well as specially secured premises in which they undertake their duties.

This is really serious stuff, and it's not, nor should it be cast as, a partisan issue. This concerns the foundations of US democratic institutions and systems and as such should be of concern to every US citizen regardless of political affiliation (or none). An independent special prosecutor with the widest possible political support now appears to be the only way to cut through all the news-fog the White House PR team are creating around this matter. As it stands the White House PR machine seems hell bent on establishing the Obama "wiretapp" [sic] claim as truth on the basis of a subordinate claim that some kind of evidence exists but which only the White House has access to.

By the way. In the top draw of my locked desk I have evidence that Obama has a 9-foot dong. However, that evidence is so sensitive that I can't show it to you, but if you pop round my house later I'll tell in private that the evidence definitely exists. You'll believe me, right?
