Both Tennessee legislators who were booted from office for protesting in the Tennessee House of Representatives have been reinstated by their local authorities.

Less than a week after being expelled, the Shelby County Board of Commissioners has reappointed Justin J. Pearson to his seat representing Tennessee House District 86.

Shelby County is home to Memphis, the area Pearson represents. Wednesday, in a 7-0 vote, the board decided to reinstate Pearson while six of the 13 members, including Republicans, were absent from the meeting.

While talking with reporters after the vote, Pearson says he will head to the Capitol in Nashville Wednesday night to be in place for Thursday's House session.

Chairman Mickell M. Lowery of the commission, who put forth the resolution to reinstate Pearson, said he had heard from people across the country who disagree with the expulsion.

"I think that it's important that the people of District 86 are represented by the person that they voted overwhelming to have in the office," he said in an interview.

Pearson and Jones are returning to the legislature on an interim basis, but they can both run in a special election to regain the seat until the next general election, in 2024.

Pearson and Jones were kicked out of the House on April 6. Jones was reinstated to his seat on Monday.

The policy does nothing to address the problem of intensifying racial resegregation. It works better when secondary schools are more segregated.

Neither Harvard nor Blum directly addresses the real stakes of the case: how do we distribute educational access and quality in a nation that remains racially inequitable and is paradoxically both becoming more diverse and more segregated each year? What kind of society are we building – one that guarantees mobility and opportunity for all, or one in which social rewards are reserved for a vanishingly small elite?

Senate likes to push out really old senators like Feinstein, mostly absent. Mitch is fighting back.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky will be back in the Senate on Monday after a multi-week absence following a concussion and a broken rib, he tweeted Thursday.

The longest-serving leader in Senate history suffered a concussion and a broken rib March 8 after falling at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C. He was discharged from physical therapy March 25 and has been continuing his recovery from home. The Spectator World’s Cockburn column claimed, roughly two-and-a-half hours before the tweet, that McConnell is planning his retirement and that several senators are preparing to take his place.

“I am looking forward to returning to the Senate on Monday. We’ve got important business to tackle and big fights to win for Kentuckians and the American people,” McConnell tweeted.

Humorous, but I think it's important to note the lie that's central to Boebert's yapping here. Gender-affirming surgery for 'young children' (we'll equate that to minors, giving the widest interpretation to Boebert's term) is extremely rare. Puberty-blocking medication, by far the most common type of gender-affirming care given to minors, is not 'mutilating'. Vile fabrication and slurs are now more than ever the Republican brand though. Trans people are very popular betes noires for Republicans these days as well, so at least she's a la mode.

It's comforting to know that though the US House of Representatives may have lost Louie Gohmert, Republican voters have ensured that we can still depend on more or less the same number of profoundly ignorant comments from that quarter. No, I'm not going to credit that the bane of the leftist Gaspacho is actually aware of Milankovitch cycles.

If you believe that today’s “climate change” is caused by too much carbon, you have been fooled.

We live on a spinning planet that rotates around a much bigger sun along with other planets and heavenly bodies rotating around the sun that all create gravitational pull on one another while our galaxy rotates and travels through the universe.

Considering all of that, yes our climate will change, and it’s totally normal!

There is no amount of taxes or carbon reduction that will stop or tame weather events or climate change.
