If you don't get Sinema, you get Kari Lake in 2024
Today, Public Policy Polling released a survey of Arizonans, showing that headed into the 2024 election, Senator Sinema is broadly unpopular and trails Rep. Ruben Gallego significantly in a three-way race. The poll shows Gallego at 40% and Republican Kari Lake at 41%, with Sinema in a distant third at 13%.

Jewish space lasers lady acceptable as Trump VP.
She has little experience but her pugnacious campaigning style is right up Trump’s street.

Republicans all set to interrogate...er....Hunter Biden's laptop.

After that, Joe Biden and Burisma. Because Joe fired the prosecutor that was investigating Burisma!
Only he didn't. That was the prosecutor that never investigated. Just did the cover ups as ordered.

Now that the Republicans control the US House of Representatives, they're planning on shredding the Office of Congressional Ethics.

'"This Must Be Stopped": House Republicans Plan to Gut Ethics Office'
Government watchdog groups on Monday blasted plans by U.S. House Republicans to gut an independent, nonpartisan ethics office that was established 15 years ago to review allegations of misconduct against members of the chamber and their staffers.

The GOP is set to have a narrow House majority once new members are sworn in on Tuesday. The party's proposed changes to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) were among various controversial policies included in the rules package for the 118th Congress that was unveiled late Sunday.

As Politico's Nicholas Wu summarized on Twitter, the Republican proposals "would effectively sack most of the Democratic-appointed board members by instituting term limits and make it much harder to hire staff."
The Republicans tried something similar in 2017 and failed, but they have even more reason now, I think.

NOW: Rep. Kevin McCarthy appears to fall short of House speakership. The speaker vote is poised to go to a second ballot for the first time in 100 years as GOP members reject McCarthy's bid.

Three votes, no Speaker of the House. They cannot carry on with any business until a Speaker is chosen--the Representatives are sworn into office by the Speaker. Until then, legislative limbo. The House is present but can not proceed. This Congress has started with a shitshow, and no reason to think it will progress beyond that even once the Republicans have finished flinging dung over this particular question.

Some Republican tool (didn't catch their name) was on the BBC World Service last night saying that the impasse was a fine example of democracy in action. When pressed he said that this was exactly how the system was designed to work, and it proved that America has the most robust democracy in the world.
