That wasn't my point.
The point was that the US
considered taking the whole lot!
Then went on to begin the process of overseas empire building by taking the other countries I mentioned. Overseas interventionism is not something the US was dragged into. It was something the US jumped into enthusiastically. (Despite a lot of political opposition at home).

Well, you are old but not that old I guess.
It was the constant European warmongering of the time. The US wanted to live in peace and way from all of that nonsense.
But maybe we could steer this topic a bit more towards Ron Paul.

Sorry, but the Louisiana Purchase qualifies for that position.

Really? Then why did we wait for the SPAM war to do so to any noticeable degree? It wasn't until we needed coaling stations to support the fleet that was protecting our merchant ships that we sought any significant oversesas property. And by then most of the world had already been divied up.

There is a difference between our backyard, and say something like Afghanistan.
Oh, and the Gulf of Mexico is more in the US than Mexico.

I was going to say I would rather steer a ten ton truck towards that shit but I thought better of it.

“I wish no harm to any human being, but I, as one man, am going to exercise my freedom of speech. No human being on the face of the earth, no government is going to take from me my right to speak, my right to protest against wrong, my right to do everything that is for the benefit of mankind. I am not here, then, as the accused; I am here as the accuser of capitalism dripping with blood from head to foot.”
John Maclean (Scottish socialist) speech from the Dock 1918.

Even though he clearly hates me, I like Pensioner.
He has led a tough life, and that has shaped his views.

As I said above:
Arguably it began with "Manifest Destiny" and Sea to Shining Sea", but more practically began with calls for the annexation of "All Mexico" after the accession of newly independent Texas into the Union.
Later, after the Spanish-American war America established Cuba as a "protectorate" (vassal state) and annexed Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.
Engagement in WW1 can be seen in this light as a logical continuation of "Manifest Destiny" and "The Monroe Doctrine".
America has been establishing an Empire for at least 200 years, and was by no means dragged into interventionism.
I'd say that some of the above might consider their occupation "noticeable".
But other than that, I find your post agreeable!
Please note that I am not an "Anyone But America" kind of guy. I just think that bad behaviour by whoever should be discussible. (If that is a word...).

Specifically what is the difference.
And, incidentally, the Philippines and Guam aren't in the US backyard...

From what I understand, his wife is Irish and the BNP have a history of being anti-Irish.
I'm a well known BNP supporter even though I obviously don't believe in any anti-Irish sentiment, and don't feel that the BNP is anti-Irish.
But, Pensioner has his reasons and I don't fault him for them.

The BNP are clearly not anti-Irish anymore. Many idiots around Ireland were on that leaked membership list, along with the idiots who joined from Britain.
They used to be anti-Irish, but for some reason, they slackened their blood purity nonsense, (before the courts told them to).
As I said, I doubt Pensioner hates you. Hate is such a futile waste of energy
