Specifically in the wonderfully designed Browning Hi-Power.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:The seven-round clip was a big hit in 1911. It took the 9mm to make it seem inadequate.Wumbologist wrote:Yep. I'll take my 9mm with a handful more rounds over a .45 any day.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Yeah. The mythology of the .45 was born after the Boxer Rebellion.

The drum magazine he used was likely to blame for the jam. I have a 90-round drum that came with my rifle and it's an unreliable piece of garbage when fully loaded to 90 rounds. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way looking to buy another one for that or any other firearm.mistermack wrote:One good thing I will say about the US is that they might have a shit attitude to guns, but they make shit weapons to match.
It's just as well the gun loony bought Smith and Wesson.
If it hadn't jammed, there would be a lot more dead.
Is it a deliberate design fault?

You have to get lucky to get a high-round design to work. The Thompson pan mag is notorious for jamming.Wumbologist wrote:The drum magazine he used was likely to blame for the jam. From the BATFE:
Q: May aliens legally in the United States buy firearms?
An alien legally in the U.S. may acquire firearms if he has a State of residence. An alien has a State of residence only if he is residing in that State and has resided in a State continuously for at least 90 days prior to the purchase. An alien acquiring firearms from a licensee is required to prove both his identity, by presenting a government-issued photo identification, and his residency with substantiating documentation showing that he has resided in the State continuously for the 90-day period prior to the purchase. Examples of qualifying documentation to prove residency include: utility bills, lease agreements, credit card statements, and pay stubs from the purchaser’s place of employment, if such documents include residential addresses.

'Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you.' - George Carlin

Why? Do you fancy a copycat spree?Animavore wrote:Can foreigners get guns legally in America?
Forget the guns.
I would recommend a nail bomb. No need for body armor, and you can do a runner before it goes off.
But you should know that, being Irish.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Anything that looks too much like a real gun is illegal here.

There's something hilarious about that.

That came from a series of events where realistic toy guns were brandished or pointed at police officers and they reacted. Separating the sheep from the goats.Animavore wrote:There's something hilarious about that.

It is pretty funny. No realistic waterpistols, either.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:That came from a series of events where realistic toy guns were brandished or pointed at police officers and they reacted. Separating the sheep from the goats.Animavore wrote:There's something hilarious about that.
But it makes sense. Especially since there are also people who make real guns look like toys, too-- painted goofy colors, all that.
It's sad.
