It was used to treat malaria victims, so there is plenty of reason for doctors to want to try it.

Which studies have you reviewed about it's early results when used to abate symptoms of Covid19?

Or are you just going to stand opposed to it's use because Trump said it?
Malaria is a bacterial disease. There are no studies, just anecdotal stories. I am not opposed to it. It should be studied like all the other possible medications. I am opposed to a head of state claiming one drug was a miracle cure without having any evidence to back that up.
Which head of state said that?

Or are you repeating 'anti-Trump' rhetoric?
I saw the press conference with my own eyes
Me too. I understood he said it was promising.

Your memory may be affected by TDS. I'll assume so.

Especially since your international interest in this subject has more blame for Trump, than for China and their deliberate mis-handling.

Why not tell me what you know about the W.H.O., its relationship with Taiwan, and with China. I want to think you at least understand the political ramifications of what you seem to be ignoring there, with your focus on Trump speaking sloppy...

A head of state giving a press conference in a global crisis where people are dying shouldn't speak sloppy.

My God.

Indeed. But nonetheless it still offers qualified medical justification for the use of chloroquine and/or hydroxychloroquine in the management of symptoms in certain cases. What it isn't though is a treatment, cure or preventative for the infection itself.

I understood it fine. You can't reference what it IS that you misunderstood, but want me to believe it is genuine?

There is a stupid game played by many. (caught myself playing it, so an inclusive 'many')

The game is, take any snip from context where someone says a 'wrongthing', and use it to discredit other things.

Qanon are all seeking '17' everywhere, and guess what - they find it often.

Trumphaters look for things he must have done wrong, and lo and behold, they find it often.

So until you can show where he claimed 'chloroquine was a miracle-cure', I'll just lump it in with Trumphate and let you enjoy it.

Did you notice how many times 17 comes up when searching for information about that high-level biolab in Wuhan? The one where the Dr. L. (Harvard bio guy) got charged for breaking the law in his work with China?

Lot of 17's to be found...

Trump didn't say they were a 'miracle cure' he said 'they have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.' That counts a 'talking it up' to the equivalent of 'miracle cure' I reckon.

Be a real ding to NB's arguments if he turs out to be right about it.

I must admit, I would prefer if Trump was closer to right, and this promising treatment delivers.

If he read this (he certainly hadn't) I could understand his enthusiasm.

If Chinese government had made efforts to hoard medical supplies, would that be enough to make it the 'China Pandemic'? (I prefer 'Kommie Kough', but it might be a bit anachronistic)

An international poll of more than 6,000 doctors released Thursday found that the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine was the most highly rated treatment for the novel coronavirus.

Infected Trump voters (who else is dumb enough to go on a cruise?) will indeed get off 2 ships:

We're not letting them in, DeSantis evidently has enough of his scrot left not to bend over for this. They're not U.S. flagged ships, let them go to Liberia or Bahamas or Panama or whatever cheap-ass flag of convenience they're flying. They want to change to U.S. flag, employ U.S. merchant marine, pay U.S. marine union wages, pay U.S. taxes, and abide by U.S. maritime regulations (and inspections!), then they have a right to use U.S. ports. Otherwise fuck the fuck off. I honestly don't care how many stupid ground apes die on them, it's an industry that needs to die for a lot of reasons. I hope each and every one on the cruise lines go bankrupt and they use those floating Petri dishes for artificial reefs.
We have a similar problem in Oz with cruise ships...

Washington(CNN) The commander of a US aircraft carrier that has been hit by a major outbreak of coronavirus has been relieved of command days after writing a memo warning Navy leadership that decisive action was needed to save the lives of the ship's crew, acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly announced on Thursday.

The outbreak on the ship is escalating rapidly.

Last week the Pentagon confirmed three sailors on the Roosevelt had tested positive and that number had risen to 25 two days later. That number rose to at least 70 on Tuesday and over 100 on Thursday.

I wonder whether he was relieved of command for making a public plea for help, or (more likely) because a couple of weeks earlier he had allowed thousands of his men to go ashore in Vietnam, which was almost certainly the source of the outbreak on the aircraft carrier...

The US Navy has fired the captain of an aircraft carrier who faced a growing outbreak of the new coronavirus on his ship, saying he created a panic by sending his memo pleading for help to too many people.

In a four-page memo to Navy leaders, the captain of the nuclear-powered warship said the spread of the disease was ongoing and accelerating, and said that removing all but 10 per cent of the crew was a "necessary risk" in order to stop the spread of the virus.

Navy Secretary Thomas Modly said the ship's commander Brett Crozier "demonstrated extremely poor judgment" in the middle of a crisis.

He said the captain copied too many people on the memo, which was leaked to a California newspaper and quickly spread to many news outlets.

Captain Crozier will be removed from his post, but will keep his rank and remain in the Navy, Mr Modly said.
OK, that seems to be the reason, but surely there should be questions raised about the port call in Vietnam earlier...
