My views are almost invariably more nuanced than yours, and certainly moreso than kikis. What are you even on about? Your arguments on immigration are as black-and-white as can be.

I'd respond but I can't for obvious reasons. See my PM.

You have 000000000 clue as to that case, you only blabber your assumptions and what nots. The lawyer I was working with had that case and all the pertinent facts. So, just be quiet.

I only brought it up because Mai suggested it.

I'm sure he did -- do you? How long was the delay? Why? Was it raining every day? What was the association's first notice like, and what was the guy's response to it? How big was the driveway?

And, I was discussing it because Mai suggested it as well. Discussion doesn't mean you just post stuff and it's not discussed. Discussions means, well, discussing stuff. Give and take. Explanations.

It's the truth.

I can't see how you can't imply that I have black and white views, especially on this issue. I'm not the one who has come to any conclusions as to guilt or innocence here, kiki has, and apparently you have. I'm not the one concluding things like the guy was a gun nut, or a racist, or lied, or had the police cover up for him, never had an injury, hunted Martin down like dog, and was a wannabe cop vigilante itching for a kill. Etc. Those things were raised by others on this thread.

My view is complex on this issue, because while I can examine the actual hard evidence and see certain things happened, and certain things didn't, I don't pretend to be able to reach into the areas of uncertainty and draw conclusions. That is the province of others here on this thread.

What are you even on about? Now how many times have we seen that from Coito? :sarcasm:

You really do make it your trademark to show pride in your claimed non-understanding what others are posting about...

So, anyway, the house I bought had association brain group. The family I bought it from were pretty wealthy and didn't like to be pushed around by some nonsense. He had installed an aircondition unit in their bedroom which faced the back yard and had no other houses facing his yard, just woods.

This was to save money from having the whole house airconditioned, when they spent most time in their bedroom. No body could see it, it wasn't in anyone's view BUT it was against associations policy.

They fought him tooth and nail to have it removed, took him to court, spent tons of money (which is of course from monthly dues by residences) and HE WON!!!!! and they had to pay him attorney fees as well. Hurray for him!!!

On a more serious note though...regarding Zimmerman being appointed as the neighborhood watch of his homeowner's association. I wonder how many associations across the US will be rescinding any appointed watchmen like Zimmerman after this whole debacle.

So, if you were a member of an association, what criteria would you expect a potential watchman to meet?

Otherwise, do go on until you're blue in the face. :smoke:

I lived in (well it wasn't gated) but it was one of those that had associaton fees and these people are sometimes "brutal", "unreasonable" and just plain nasty, even to their own neighbors.

I remember a case (not in my neighborhood, but for a lawyer I worked for) where a newly home owner was re-cementing his driveway. Well, according to the association HE was taking too long and it was making their neighborhood look "unpleasant"! Meantime, they didn't consider that it was a rainy season and that is what kept the home owner to delay a few times to finish the job.
So, to bugger him further, they sent him another "warning" letter that his MAIL BOX is not up to standard for this community.
He was a lawyer himself so he took it upon himself to do a little buggering to the association. He bought a mail box that looks like a giant fish. Had contractors for his driveway disclose when they can finish, AND THE ASSOCIATION STILL FINED HIM SOME FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS for wasting their time and not obeying the rules.

How unreasonable and snobby and so damn stiff can people be?
If you don't like the HOA rules, don't live in an HOA-controlled subdivision...or get elected to the HOA board and abolish the HOA.

Otherwise, you subscribe to the rules when you move in, and you have no room to complain about them.

Was there a local shortage of cement, something which happens from time to time and leaves small-project customers hanging as the concrete companies serve their big industrial and commercial clients first with what concrete there is?
