Riots are a form of protest. When a protest becomes a riot it would be good to see why. Typically it’s indicative of a corrupt system of governance.

There can be a mix of reasons why a protest might turn into a riot, destruction of property or looting. Certainly despair and desperation caused by a system blocking change is a major factor, but on occasion, it will be some people taking the opportunity to loot or destroy because that's the sort of person they are. Protestors are a mix of people, they are not all serious and committed, and a small minority will not be well intentioned...

When is it fair play to shoot rioters?

When is it ok to use deadly force in self-defense?

Where is our 'overton window', JimC? I'm happy acknowledging that everyone who started violence (either burning property, or assault) had given up their right to safety, and was a willing combatant.

That kind of leaves me little sympathy for everyone, but I'm ok with that.

It might be because the media haven't outlined just where it is ok to use deadly force. They mostly use armed guards, but tell the peons that guns are bad.

As it is, I expect he would refer to fires and violence as 'protest', while referring to people trying to protect their property from fire and violence, as something more sinister.

And likely cowers from answering 'when can a person defend themselves with deadly force?'

Why are black people in the US poorer, policed more, and jailed more than white people? Is it due to systemic racism, or is it because black people are more inclined to make "shit choices" than white people?

Why was property damage that happened around the '60s civil rights protests acceptable if property damage that happens around BLM protests isn't?

Washington, DC (January 20, 2021) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation Law Center (NCOSE), The Haba Law Firm, and The Matiasic Firm have jointly filed a federal lawsuit against Twitter on behalf of a minor who was trafficked on the social media platform that boasts over 330 million users.
