One of the metrics for GINI is lack of gov corruption.
One of the faiures of corporate power and the govs under which they exist is the failure to rein in "good ol boys" boards of directors who are often incestuous instead of independent.
Govs fail to corral them and Auditors General are not given the teeth to curb abuses..only to report them.
Temptation runs across ALL human interactions, from a father eyeing a newly nubile daughter to a weapons maker management supplying both sides of a conflict without regard to moral position to a bishop abusing little boys in their care.
It is always a CHOICE to act on that temptation.
In all areas of human society and its components...from domestic to corporate to military to unions to gov agencies there needs much better checks and balances with the power to actually act on egregious behaviour.
Humans have attempted even to check sovereign states acting out....with limited success by way of of the UN but mostly by detente and threat.
Like all the human interations mentioned....a capitalist system is subject to a combination of codified laws AND the decisions of those in power to abide by them....from dad and dottor to Israel and Palestine...choices are made...nothing is inherent.
I find it interesting, over my lifetime, that the excuse "just following orders" doesn't cut it any more as a defence against abuses....it's always a choice.
