Its more slyly worded than that, Pappa, but yes it is that bad. Some unbelievable shit being posted - eg, copy/pastes from neo-nazi web sites as "evidence" that whites are being unfairly treated, and a constant barrage of posts claiming that black people have lower IQs than white.

That's the reason the staff over there has now strengthened the rule against such things. Several people have been banned for that idiocy. The staff is also trying to be keep a watch out for such posts and posters. If you are over there and notice such a post or suspect something, please report it. With the number of posters and posts over there, the staff relies on the forum membership to report such things.

It seems to come in waves. It will be virtually nonexistent for a time, then several of them will show up around the same time.

I think it's difficult impossible for the mods to strike a happy censorship medium between 'cracking down' and allowing free debate, as censorship's a widely subjective area and leaves the mods in a 'damned if they do, damned if they don't' position no matter how they handle it.

No, all the staff over there cares, but way the old rule was structured, it was difficult to get rid of them. After much discussion, a new rule was hammered out and it became possible to ban posters who spout racism much more easily. Also, the staff doesn't read every post, it's not possible, so there are times a racist will get to post several posts before s/he's reported by another member or noticed by staff. If the staff doesn't know there is a poster who is posting racist bs, then there is nothing the staff can do about it.

Cursuswalker, have you contacted any of the staff at RDF directly with examples of where you think they did not address the issue? Or have you reported any posts or posters you consider racist?

IIRC: In the first half of 2007, we had the first influx of serious racist types - an organised attack. It took a while, but we eventually agreed that unlimited free speech be damned - we just had to get rid of the worst offenders. It was turning people off the forum TBH.
