I wonder that myself, but it causes offence when I treat the U.S. as most people treat most foreign nations, that is to say, I don't actually give a fuck what happens on your shores as long as it doesn't affect me. Why wouldn't you live anywhere else, GS? Is it because we are all socialist drones in the rest of the world? Imagine living in a place where your whole populace was on average happier, and didn't have to worry about their healthcare and other basics in their life. It's not as bad as it sounds...

You folks don't sound happier.

It's funny, the folks from Yerup and Oz that talk about how bad it is in the US seem to be the ones who have never been here. The folks that actually come here, my experience is almost all of them are quite pleasantly surprised by what it is like. I can tell you that my city in Florida is phenomenal. The people are nice, happy and live very nice lives.

I recently had a friend come from overseas and bring another friend of his with him, from Ireland, and he had nothing but good words to say and thought that Americans were friendly and that the way of life/standard of living was much better. This is an example of what has happened several times.

I'm not one to say the US is "better" than other places. But, I find the mantra of how much happier and well off the "rest of the world" is. Most of the time, folks referring to "the rest of the world" are really referring to about 7 countries in western Yerup, and Australia, Canada and New Zealand. That's the arrogance of many folks from those places -- they just sort of shrug off most of the world as being part of "the rest of the world." You can go ahead and keep thinking yourselves so superior, but I think you may wish to give us a try before writing it off.
