How big a step it it really from killing people for commiting crimes like murder, to extending it to crimes like robbery, through to crimes like disagreeing with the government?
It's a slippery slope, who do you trust to get it right without pushing their own agenda?

I believe the old should fall on their own swords with the correct education of relavant facts. Any attempt to solve the problem of the elderly in America today should take the path of compassion & understanding. To simply kill the old is wrong and even if it resolves the underlying problem of a ageing demented population those organizing such violence should pay the ultimate penalty afterwards. P.S. You know about the Israeli Jew that leaked details about Israel's nuclear weapons? Well, Israel didn't kill him, but the government did torture him and jailed him for decades. Even today, he is routinely jailed and hassled by the Israel government. He says he wants to leave the country or die because the Israeli government has destroyed his life and is continuing to hassle/torture him. It's in one of the threads in the "I Hate Israel" subforum.

The death penalty, my gut reaction is that it has to be a no no. I hear of horrendous crimes and my first thought is how nice it would be to just be able to wipe people out - i mean the real nasty stuff - child abusers, murderers, torturing terrorists - all the daily mail usual suspects, but I can't get my head round cold calculated killing, and what if the jury are WRONG. I think they should be made to pedal bikes attached to generators all day, to produce power. Harness their energy and make them give something back.

The death penalty rules out any chance of repitition. It also stops lawyers digging up cases for expensive retrials. Since the global population is already at overcapacity I see no real problem with the death penalty for those who have gone beyond the line(or who regretably flag as false positives here). A bullet or a lethal injection - I think choice should be given the deceased and their trial should be brief, execution immediate.
