There is a vote on whether they want witnesses or not, which I don't quite understand, and later today it will be over.

Philly GOP commissioner asks Mitch to vote with his conscience...
@LeaderMcConnell The former POTUS incited supporters to threaten to kill my children and put their “heads on spikes” because we counted votes cast by eligible voters. They named my children and included my home address in the threats. Please consider when voting your conscience.

Bruce Castor rambles, rants and turns into a constitutional scholar
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56007788

he claims Trump can't be impeached as congress 2has no "jurisdiction" over an ex president and his constitutional rights have been violated. He thinks none of the video can be used, it's jus video. If they want Trump, they have to subpoena him.

He and others seems to confuse this with a criminal trial. Due process happened, senators can use or reject any evidence. But since trump can't go to jail based on the senate vote, his rights (citizen rights) are not violated.

They are now voting on calling witnesses. Romney said yes. Could go to 51. And Senate gets to say how many and who. The Trump team proposed calling about 100 witnesses. So they have to vote on EACH witness yes or no.

The issue is evolving. Commentators speculate that at some point they would decide to allow the same number of witnesses for each side.

McConnell reveals he will vote to acquit Trump

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told GOP colleagues in a letter that he will vote to acquit Donald Trump in the former president's impeachment trial, according to sources familiar with the communication.
Did anybody really think he'd do otherwise?

There is always something to learn for Mitch. He will be back in power after the 2022 election. They will then impeach Biden. So it's useful to know how to impeach a president for something other than a blow job.

Well, the Clinton impeachment, blow jobs and blue dresses and all, took 6 weeks.

These senators broke off into off mike discussions on procedure. Then substituted witness statements in place of testimony,

They will soon vote to aquit so that future presidents are allowed their very own insurrections.

Senate Republicans say impeachment was purely political.

As if what happened on the 6th wasn't.

Mitch has decided that he TOO is a constitutional scholar. The expresident cannot be impeached.

The supreme court has done similar reading between lines. They decided that with the 2nd Amendment, the founding fathers said "a well regulated militia" but they meant "anybody that wants a gun."

They DID mean anyone.

Of course, you could believe that it's better if only your rulers have guns, but I think it would be a better government, if it were forbidden to deny you the right to own weapons, before legislating about your life.

This leaves the for open for Trump and his terrorist supporters to try again. They might succeed next time.
