We have an outdoor bow range about five miles from here. It's just a mile or so from Shaw Nature Preserve.

My found one of my grandpas hunting rifles while playing hide and seek when I was little. Luckily we had all been taught guns are not toys and only adults are allowed to touch them so I wasn't tempted to show it to my cousins.

It is something I've been wanting to learn how to do for quite a while, but never had anyone to teach me - I've had people tell me they would, but when push came to shove, it never happened. (Yes, I know I could have paid for classes, but they were rather expensive.) I know 'Zilla will make sure I'm trained properly before I ever aim the thing at a paper target. Besides, it will get me off my butt, out of the house, and I'll be learning new things. Last thing I need to be doing is sitting around all the time.

So you don't know anything about guns, and you base your opinions entirely on what journalists (who also don't know much of anything about guns) tell you about them. Then, you want those of us who actually do have knowledge and practical experience with them to defer to you regarding what should and shouldn't be allowed?

Why does someone need an automatic rifle that can fire more than ten rounds at a time? You don't think banning that particular type of rifle wouldn't have prevented what happened in Colorado?

This guy's rifle was not an automatic rifle. It was a garden vareity semi-automatic that requires a trigger pull for each round to be fired. And I think banning them would do just as well as the drugs being illegal does at preventing people from getting those.

You admitted you don't know anything about guns, and now you want to tell everyone else what's reasonable? Nobody has any obligation to justify 'need' to you. If i want an AR-15, the only things that matter are whether or not I pass the background check and if I've got the money to pay for it.

And sure, if someone really wants to commit a massacre like this, they can do it in other ways and figure out making a bomb, starting a forest fire, whatever. But why make it easier by making this type of unnecessary gun available?

Easier? Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people without a gun. If all someone wants is a really high death toll, explosives and fires work way better than guns do.

It depends on the frame size (which model of Glock it is) but they range from 6+1 (six in the magazine, one in the chamber) to 15+1 without buying magazines that protrude past the bottom of the grip.
