I think Bill Barr isn't happy. Nasty activist judge says that the White House lawyer must testify. SAD!

'Don McGahn must testify about time as White House lawyer, judge rules'
Don McGahn, the former top lawyer at the White House, must testify to congressional impeachment investigators, a federal judge ruled Monday.

In a decision that could reshape the balance of power between Congress and the executive branch, U.S. District Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson ruled that McGahn, who spent 30 hours talking to special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, can’t hide behind President Donald Trump’s claim that he is “absolutely immune” from speaking to Congress.

The decision is expected to put pressure on other reluctant Trump administration witnesses to also appear before Congress as lawmakers prepare their articles of impeachment.

I wonder if that will bring John Bolton in. That could be interesting.

I expect Trump's mob will appeal and drag it out, taking it to the US Supreme Court if necessary and hoping they take the case. There's a good chance that the conservative majority will rule in Trump's favor. Regardless, the case could still be on a docket somewhere this time next year.

As for Bolton, he's giving every appearance of keeping schtum, with an eye toward boosting his book's sales numbers. It's patriotic to make a stack of money, you know.

Yeah, that's clearly the plan. They want to delay until the election is over.

As for Bolton, testifying might really boost sales. :{D

For several months now, as this lunacy progresses, something Hunter S. Thompson once wrote has been running through mind like a mantra

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

It seems to sum up our times.

It vould be Russia!CNN
Washington (CNN)Republican Sen. John Kennedy on Monday backtracked on claims he made a day earlier that no one can be sure it was only Russia that tried to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, saying he misunderstood the question and that he sees no evidence that Ukraine participated in the hacking.

"I was wrong," Kennedy told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "Cuomo Prime Time." "It was Russia who tried to hack the (Democratic National Committee) computer. I've seen no indication that Ukraine tried to do it."

Unles Ginsburg pegs it and they can wedge another made man into the empty Supreme Court chair.

The US House Judiciary Committee has invited the president to attend the first impeachment hearing. This will be an examination of the historical grounds for impeachment, and the president (actually much more likely some lawyer or group of lawyers as his representatives) is to be given the opportunity to cross examine witnesses (PDF of the letter).

Maybe, maybe not. Conservative judges aren't like conservative politicians. They can get really obstinate about the rule of law and other bothersome stuff. Victory isn't assured by having his nominees on the court.

Trump has a compelling reason to wait until after the election for a court decision. If he and whatever foreign interests that take his side can get him 4 more years, he's okay if he loses and testimony shows him to be guilty of obstruction. As long as the Office of Legal Council leaves their ruling that a sitting President can't be prosecuted in place, he's safe and the statute of limitations runs out before his term does.

He could nominate Barr - he's got legal smarts right? And Nunes could make sure he got the gig. :tea:

Genius! Other than Barr having no judicial experience and Nunes not being a Senator, it could work.

Not going to end well for Democrats.

Trump Lawyer: President Trump directed an investigation into Hunter Biden's illegal activity in the Ukrainian company Burisma , and how his father Joe Biden's helped cover it up.

Hunter likes cocaine. Not going to end well. :smoke:

I'm still disappointed that Monica Lewinsky never got into porn, but Bill Clinton's was while he was President in the White House.

Huh?
I was given a year of free milkshakes once. The year passed and I hadn’t bothered to get even one.
