Yeah, it's a big nothing burger. What documents did he have? They were related to nuclear secrets, possible plans to respond to attack--big whoop, he took them when he cleaned out his office. Without knowing what they say, how do you decide to be worried or not? For all I know they're bullet points and generic summaries given to staff prior to visiting with various department heads, classified by default, and worth exactly squat in the absence of people capable of providing details, which Lord knows Trump couldn't do 5 minutes after a meeting...

Unfortunately Jim it's too easy to run afoul of laws and find yourself prosecuted on a technicality, which is then sold to the public as something else entirely. To borrow from Tero's comment, a black man may technically have enough dope to classify him as a dealer in the eyes of the law, despite never having sold drugs in his life.

It's obvious the national security risk angle is being pushed here, and why not, it's not impossible that Trump's mishandling of these documents has hurt our interests. Trump may have used them for personal gain, or may still be using them today in some sick scheme to get leverage somewhere. --who knows? The man lives inside his own ass, and rarely interacts with the world the rest of us inhabit.

My comment was really just a complaint about the need to feel some kind of way about the risk without knowing much of anything one way or the other...so yeah, prosecute him, but the drama surrounding security is a nothing burger to me.

There is this quaint belief that the legal system has something to do with justice.

It exists to protect the rich and powerful from their moral responsibilities towards their workers, the environment and society in general.

...and it provides protected employment to the children of those elites that are dull and unimaginative.
