We still need Biden. To save the election. Trump now has an army of local officials who will reject entire counties with black people.

MSNBC is reporting that Biden is not particularly close to Adam Schiff. It will take some major effort by all of the big shots.

Rumors (they name none of the congress sources) also point to Biden and Kamala going out at the same time. So the inside finagling will take..days. And Biden will push for Kamala. Plus he "owns" all the delegates.

A good number of black experts on TV have come out fully supporting Biden. I sense a lesser support of Kamala from each of these people. It's a sort of "yes we will vote for her but..."

Some hints that Aug 1 is some deadline. So it could drag on another 10-15 days.

The Democratic National Convention will begin on Aug. 19 in Chicago.

But Democrats appear to be moving forward with a controversial plan to hold a virtual vote in advance of the convention to lock in their nominee beforehand. The convention rules committee is now reportedly planning to hold the virtual vote on Aug. 1 or later after backlash to proposals for a July vote.

About the only thing that could save Biden is winning the second debate. But we know he has no idea how to debate Trump. And even at best it would be Trump lying and Biden fact checking. He would get very few punches.

On the Democratic side, the short-term turmoil is greater yet. The chances that Biden will drop out have clearly surged in the past couple of days. But the outcome remains uncertain. If he does quit the race, will the party quickly support Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee? Or will the situation be more typical of historical conventions when the nominee was unclear, with a messy, competitive process in which multiple candidates make their cases to delegates?[

Joe: Kamala can't win?

Even though anger and panic have been steadily rising inside the Democratic Party for nearly three weeks, the White House and the Biden campaign are in a new place, multiple Democratic officials told CNN.

“The private conversations with the Hill are continuing,” a senior Democratic adviser told CNN, speaking on condition of anonymity to avoid alienating the campaign and the White House. “He’s being receptive. Not as defiant as he is publicly.”

“He’s gone from saying, ‘Kamala can’t win,’ to ‘Do you think Kamala can win?” the adviser said. “It’s still unclear where he’s going to land but seems to be listening.”

The panic has fully set in not just among elected officials, but the donor class, as well.

As much as I understand politics, this I do not get. Somehow getting his nomination pushed through is going to get him extra points among voters?

Well, it is not over. He does need to show up in public soon. Some kind of deadline for Kamala will be Aug 1. Past that it is too late to change.
