Nancy Mace and Jasmine Crockett got to shouting. The bill would have allowed random adults inspect the genitalia of girls on sports teams so that they don't allow transgender atheletes.

Those useless Democrats. Poor at fighting the GOP, let alone the Trump GOP.

Because one "illegal" killed an American, all foreigners can now be locked up till trial, no bail.
What the law does is require detention, without bond or even a bond hearing, to decide if a person really poses a public safety risk. That is a dangerous concept. We have a foundational constitutional commitment to due process, expressed in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments. All people have a right not to be deprived of life, liberty or property without notice and a fair hearing.
This law could be used to detain people who are arrested but never charged with any crime — for example, where police quickly learn they have arrested the wrong person, or a diligent judge or prosecutor notices an important legal problem before a case is arraigned. That is very common, particularly in low-level cases.

'Y'know, if us fat cats don't get tax cuts it will be disastrous for the middle class and the other scum.'

'Trump’s Billionaire Treasury Pick Stresses Importance of Tax Cuts for Billionaires'
President-elect Donald Trump’s Treasury Secretary pick, a billionaire who has been accused of evading taxes, says that “the most important economic issue of the day” is extending Trump’s tax cuts for the ultra rich.

Scott Bessent spoke about his economic plans while sitting for his confirmation hearing before the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday. Bessent is an investor, political donor, and a hedge fund manager. He is a former partner at Soros Fund Management, liberal philanthropist George Soros’ investment firm. Nevertheless, Bessent is a MAGA darling, and is expected to be confirmed by the Senate.

“Today I believe that President Trump has a generational opportunity to unleash a new economic golden age that will create more jobs, wealth, and prosperity for all Americans, he said.

“We must make permanent the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” he added when outlining his goals.

...

“This is the single most important economic issue of the day,” Bessent said. “This is pass-fail. If we do not fix these tax cuts, if we do not renew and extend, then we will be facing an economic calamity, and as always, with financial instability that falls on the middle and working class.”

An extension of this legislation would reportedly cost $4 trillion over a decade. Bessent previously said that he would cover this cost through other budget cuts. Trump has proposed extending the 2017 law’s tax cuts for individuals and another, larger tax cut for corporations.

You hosted a podcast in 2020 called “The Deciding Decade,” saying it was full of choices that will determine our entire future. Trump will take us through 2028. How are we faring?

In terms of societal, political and civic trust, I’m worried. Very, very worried.

On some other fronts, I think there is a durability to what we spent the first half of this decade doing, much of which will bear fruit in the second half of this decade. And it may be maddening politically for somebody like me to contemplate that people who actively opposed it might wind up scooping up the credit for it. But the most important thing isn’t the credit, it’s that it happened. Because I also think that the benefits — not the political benefits, but the actual benefits of the job creation and the innovation and the infrastructure — will make not only our economy but our society stronger.

In your public remarks and interviews post-election, you keep using the phrase that salvation will come at the local and state level. What do you mean by that?

Well, for one thing, we have leaders at the local level who are much more offline, so to speak, in their leadership. They’re dealing with reality, not conspiracy, and that’s the nature of kind of backyard work, which means that they can set a kind of tone and do sometimes a better job of discerning what’s important and making sense of what’s happening than what’s possible in Washington and in the provinces of the media that revolve around Washington.

Trying exactly the same thing over and over and expecting different results, eh? What do they say about that again?

Joe Biden has issued pre-emptive pardons to his siblings and their spouses, to protect them from "revenge" under the incoming administration.
He also pardoned Anthony Fauci, retired general Mark Milley and members of the House committee that investigated the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
The decision by Biden comes after Donald Trump warned of an enemies list filled with those who have crossed him politically.
He was careful to ensure that the Presidential pardons did not imply guilt:
"The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgement that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offence," Mr Biden said in a statement.
I haven't yet heard anything of Trump's reaction to these pardons, but suspect he may be frothing at the mouth... ;)

I'm sure they'll be gone at the stroke of a pen if he so desires. Executive Orders are the new Divine Right of Kings.

I don't think a Presidential pardon can be revoked. L'emmy would know...
