O come on, man. Just admit it's because we refuse to use polytunnels.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 11:16 amMost of our soil is old, weathered, thin and nutrient deficient. There's really only a small fraction of primary farmland.

Re: Straya!

A yes, and there's that.
Which explains why we are so good at producing meat. So good, in fact, that we produce more meat than we can consume. In 2019 we exported 9.1 billion dollars worth of beef and veal and 2.5 billion dollars worth of lamb.
Netherlands bought $144 million dollars worth of it. The country is pretty shit at producing their own. The Dutch don't know how to grow cows or sheep. They try polytunnels, but the results are disappointing.

Never see Ozland meat or Fernland lamb. Deep frozen stuff I never touch. My organic butcher only sells Dutch produce.

This is totally believable, but the nobody thought you would have eaten $144 million dollars worth of meat imported by Netherlands from Australia in 2019.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 10:41 amNever see Ozland meat or Fernland lamb. Re: Straya!
Probably sold it on (for a profit) as industrial meat. We have so many cattle in this country also we eat the highest proportion of meat replacement products in Europe that it is highly unlikely to be sold here.Hermit wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 10:58 amThis is totally believable, but the nobody thought you would have eaten $144 million dollars worth of meat imported by Netherlands from Australia in 2019.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 10:41 amNever see Ozland meat or Fernland lamb. I don't know about Oz, but here, kiwi lamb is one of the most available meats, especially in supermarkets.

Why else would we use it as we have plenty here. Big business is industrial meat. I was given a year of free milkshakes once. The year passed and I hadn’t bothered to get even one.

Re: Straya!
So that's what Dutch meat looks like. Sourced from Brabant in 1921. Must be pretty off by now. No wonder the Netherlanders have to import $144 million worth of the good stuff from Australia.
