US Election 2020
Re: US Election 2020
It could happen. When last I lived in Texas, 1969, it was a blue state.
It had only gone Republican three times since Reconstruction to that point: Ike in 1952 and 1956, and Hoover in 1928.

I have a proposal how to organise this election:
A couple of teenagers is selected randomly from each state. They are sent to Yellowstone Park where they'll fight each other until death. The last surviving couple becomes king and queen

Yeah, but back then Texas dems were at odds with dems elsewhere in their resistance to equal rights for blacks. When they got on the right side of history several defected to the republicans and the voters followed...
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?
The Silver State. 1894.

Yeah, the parties were more ideologically diverse back then, but my point is these things can change over time. I know some people think Texas is turning purple. I don't know about that, but from what I've seen, it's not a typical southern state.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 10:47 pmYeah, but back then Texas dems were at odds with dems elsewhere in their resistance to equal rights for blacks. He won't have a chance to. He can't be more than a placeholder.
Why do you expect he is getting treated so much kinder than Kavanaugh? Are his politics more in-line with whoever owns your news channels?

Re: US Election 2020
Kavanaugh is a frat boy turned anti-abortionist. What's the connection?
Also, why is the tea party wing backers of anti-abortionists? Isn't that goverment telling uscto do? To not abort.

They are both wealthy, powerful white guys accused of sex offenses against vulnerable women.
Maybe you should ask them if you don't know.

But why would the media treat them so differently? Is it ok for Biden to finger-rape that lady because he has the right politics?

Re: US Election 2020
Same in Florida. First Republican governor since Reconstruction was Claude Kirk in 1966. We were pretty much constant Democrat till Jeb Bush, it's been GOP since then.
Course those old Southern Democrats were a different kettle of fish. Remember Lester Maddox in Georgia with his ax handles? Then there was George Wallace.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Yeah, my parents were both Democrats, but Dad was a Southern Democrat and Mom was a New England Democrat. What a difference!laklak wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 2:20 amSame in Florida.
