That is some presumption. I dont like Magpies or cats for the same reason; they disseminate the song bird population. We dont have any house sparrows anymore and blackbirds have taken a big hit. Luckily a local Toko has seemed to have solved the cat population roaming around. The arrogance of owners that thinks they have a right to allow cats to freely roam gardens pissing and pooping wherever they want is beyond me.
Covid has not helped in this matter as there has been a markable increase in cat ownership. When lockdown finally is removed I dread to think how many song birds are left.

@Scot... I have a problem, your use of the verb disseminate does not vibe with the French meaning of it... I'm not sure whether english uses that in a radically different meaning, or if it's just you, but I'd like to know what meaning you use it for, to be sure. Also, what's a Toko?

I'd like to know where and how to look how courts judge disputes between animal owners and garden owners, depending on the various misdeeds of either sides and their four legged feud makers.

It's at least in the top 3 issues discussed on the neighborhood message boards.
I was given a year of free milkshakes once. The year passed and I hadn’t bothered to get even one.

Of course we have and continue to do so and once again introducing a non native animal does not help. I still like song birds in preference to Corvids.
Toko = From Dutch toko (“Southeast Asian grocery store”), from Indonesian Malay toko (“shop”), from Min Nan 土庫/土库 (thó͘-khò͘, “private storehouse”).
Indonesian food shops and eating places.

Cats always lose. Under Dutch law you can chase them out of your garden but you cant kill.

In similar news, I've heard that the whole neighbourhood in Cannes, you know, the Mediterranean coast town famous for a film festival, is being completely overrun by rabbits, the locals want to import Aussie experts to help deal with the pest.

Well, I bet it does not happen much, as I don't think varmint rifles, let alone real hunting pieces are that common, and cats are not in the habit of eating rat bait.

Leaving a dead rat that had died of poison is pretty effective. Water is also very effective and automatic sprinklers attached to movement sensors do impress. Guns of any sort ist verboten.
Corvids dont like the carcases of their fellows swinging in the wind. There are artificial ones that are very effective. What amazes me is how the super intelligent Corvids are so easily fooled. A neighbour who has a roof terrace has a couple swinging away and not a Corvid to be seen.
