I think Trump should be held accountable for what he did after the election. But there are too many Republicans who were happy to help him for that to happen.

My comment about the lawyers was for the talking heads discussing the particulars of the trial. A less offensive analogy might have been to compare them to art critics.

If lawyers are in charge of a process, and they get paid hourly to 'lawyer' through that process, I would guess that there might be a bias in favor of more lawyering processes.

Trump can only be convicted by the Senate as a body. I guess one either respects democratic process or one doesn't and tries to make it a purely partisan issue.

On its own that might be ok - letting the voters decide. But I don't think we can (or should) put aside what and who he is, what he said and did as president, or what he's said and done as a person. The man's a walking, talking shit-posting troll at best, and a pernicious expression of self-entitled, power-hungry elitism at worst.
