Continuing rain here, and the wind has picked up quite a lot today. Tonight is when we'll get the real stuff. Work and school are cancelled again tomorrow. Based on the flooding we had last fall, my wife thinks the county schools will be out all week. Flooding from rain runoff is the biggest problem we're likely to see in southern Maryland, not counting the dilemma of keeping three young kids busy while we're cooped up indoors.
Up north is where the real problems are - the storm surge areas. NYC, New Jersey and Long Island are in trouble. Interestingly, the Connecticut coast -on the north side of Long Island Sound- may see an even higher storm surge than the ocean-facing coasts to the south. As much as 11 feet in places. I'm looking forward to hearing from Hades and anyone else up that way.
