Iran only a year away from nuke!
Is there any industrialised country that couldn't produce a nuclear weapon in a year if it wants one ?

They might possible struggle to do it in secret but how hard can it really be to do with modern manufacturing techniques and knowing for a fact that it actually works

Yeah sure about what?

What does Israel having nukes have to do with this issue is what I'm trying to get at. We're talking about Iran here.

And, before there was an Israel -- this is Palestine

It became Israel, Jordan and the "Palestinian Territories."

Originally, the first bit carved out was called Transjordan, because it included today's Jordan and the bit "across" or "trans" the Jordan River which is now the West Bank.

A few years later, the UN decided to carve out Israel, and was going to give the remaining non-Israel, non-Jordan land to the Arabs, but the Arabs rejected it, which is why the Palestinian Territories are not a country. After the early Arab attacks on Israel, Jordan gave up its claim to the west bank and renamed itself Jordan, since it was no longer "trans" the Jordan River.

Yes. But, Iran is a third world county, and they want one.

and, apparently the Obama Administration is concerned about it, and is promising not to let it happen. But, this is contrary to what they were selling during the campaign in the fall, because then they were laughing off the idea of nuclear Iran.

So, no big deal then.

The classic Coito dilemma: Do I care more about wasting my time in an argument that will go nowhere very, very slowly or do I care more about how it will look if I just walk away?

I just find it weird that you would come to a discussion about Iran, and respond to a post about the Administration accusing Iran of literally being 1 year away from a nuke (after we were just told a few months ago that it was a problem way way over the horizon) with the retort that Israel has nukes.

What does that have to do with the price of Chinese tea?

Nothing, if you can't see the forest for the trees.

May we argue in aphorisms?

Just wondering if you would state your point expressly, rather than post a comment from which others are supposed to extrapolate or infer your view of it.

What was your point?

Chicken.

You know why you won't write it out.

You just want to hang that "Israel has nukes" thing out there without drawing your conclusion.

Come on -- write it -- why is it relevant that Israel has nukes?

Any country that lacks a nuclear (power)industry would have a really hard time to do that in a year.

Uh...no. Next.
I can't argue with you about this. You're too consistent.
yes, because consistency is such a bad trait.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

No. I know how you argue Coito - deliberately obtuse. You recognized my point, as anyone of average or higher intelligence would, now you wish to side step it and attempt to draw me into an argument over trivialities.

Not interested.

No, it is a good trait, and I do not imply otherwise.
