Nobody knows helicopters like Trump. He will blame this on a DEI hire sooner or later.
The military helicopter was participating in a training flight, NBC and Reuters reported. “We can confirm that the aircraft involved in tonight’s incident was an army UH-60 helicopter from Bravo Company, 12th Aviation Battalion, out of Davison army airfield, Fort Belvoir, during a training flight,” a military official told NBC, adding more details would be provided once available.

Trump already did the research. DEI caused the crash.

Just been reading the transcript between pilots and ground control. Trump could be onto something. Looks like there might have been a mix up in idioms between ground control and either the plane or the helicopter. Could be...have to wait maybe years whilst legal teams plunder the wreckage for any dollar value they can make before we know.

On Tuesday night, just 24 hours before a deadly collision between a military helicopter and a regional jet over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport, a different regional jet coming in for a landing at the airport alerted the air traffic control tower that it had to make a second approach.

The cockpit crew quickly reported the reason to the tower: A helicopter had appeared near the flight path.

The base with the helicopters and training may need to make changes.
the flight path is along the river and they routinely cross paths with planes

The army field is at least 10 miles South of where they flew.
Plenty of waterways to fly over there as well. To avoid populated areas.

Preliminary data shows the Black Hawk was flying at an altitude of 325 feet at the time of the crash, according to Inman. Reagan National is one of the most congested airports in the country. Aviation rules require helicopters on that route above the Potomac to stay below 200 feet. AA Flight 5342's last transmitted altitude was about 300 feet.

a good number of the reported 30 near misses at that airport were with army planes and helicopters

Nobody knows helicopers like Trump
"The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing.

"Why didn't the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn't the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane.
On the day this happened my friends and I darkly joked that Trump would blame it on Woke and the Democrats. And then the next day he did.

"The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing.
Without context I'd say it "looked" like a terrorist attack on the plane ...it "looked" like the helicopter accelerated during that last straight run.
I just wonder if the pilot was playing chicken with the the airliner trying to get across the front of it like a kid trying to cross the street after the traffic light changes.
It WAS a training flight. :coffee:

The Toronto crash with the Bonbardier CRJ9 made me look up what Delta has discovered. not much. Landing gear is missing one side, so it was a hard landing.

Those planes carry 80 and are in common use. We may be flying them on trip to Europe in June. Flights are Montreal to Europe. Looking at other flights, we get the same price without that plane. But with sitting at Chicago for 5 hours.

On the plus side we get to see our Grandson while in Germany and visit all kinds of people. Then if we crash, it will be our last leg to St Louis, where our car will be.

Bret Weinstein interviewed someone interesting about this incident.
"Jo Ellis: A transgender pilot with the Virginia National Guard who was wrongfully targeted by social media users as the captain of the Black Hawk helicopter that tragically crashed" is the summary from the search. Your favourite podcast should have it.

Most relevant parts weren't anything too dramatic. Just some procedure/training stuff, and a clearer expression of how night flying in that environment can present challenges.
