Obama, he'll treat you like family

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

The first page of google results! It must be a FACT!!!!Warren Dew wrote:Googling "bush obama iq", all the first page links agree that Bush's IQ is higher than Obama's by between 1 and 9 points, so it make as much sense as "Bush=dumb".Ian wrote:CES - Harsh as some of ours are, I think there's some good nuggets to a lot of them. But "Obama=dumb"? Come on, nobody here is going to think that's even clever, let alone funny. You can do better.
Both apparently have above average IQs (116-124 for Obama, 125 for Bush). Neither seems to have been high enough to avoid being manipulated by their advisors, which is the biggest problem with both administrations.

Following back to the origin of most of the links, we get an IQ website that estimated Obama's IQ as above 130 (Stanford Binet) or 148 (Cattell). Next came a conservative blogger that said that estimate must be wrong because it didn't take into account Harvard University's affirmative action. This blogger does his own estimate putting Obama's IQ at 116. Just for a bit of background, this blogger has on his site links to the Conservapedia articles on Evolution and Atheism, and also these gems:
Trigger Warning!!!1! :
And then there are the estimates for Bush's IQ, which also vary wildly throughout the internet.
Funny thing is though, the lowest estimate of Obama's IQ is this 116 with plenty of estimates going up into the 140s. The highest estimates of Bush's IQ are in the 130s with estimates going down into the 90s. Perhaps there's some truth in the average of all estimates?

Obama won't release any of his educational records, and I'm sure it is not out of modesty. He did get into those elite colleges through affirmative action and not merit, and Obama had admitted previously he wasn't a stellar student.psychoserenity wrote:Following back to the origin of most of the links, we get an IQ website that estimated Obama's IQ as above 130 (Stanford Binet) or 148 (Cattell). They did IQ tests in South Africa among unadmixed Blacks in an elite engineering school where entrants were competitively selected. The average IQ of this elite class was just over 100. Based on a two standard deviation increase, this puts the average group IQ at around 70. The average American Black IQ is around 85, and that includes heavily mixed individuals like Obama. The average American Black has around 20% admixture.

Are these "liberal logic" ones meant ironically? Is it a poe? They all seem to be straw-men or completely missing the point.

Re: Political posterizing.
Then the Democrats should love him, no?
And, Obama supporters worried about politicians talking out of both sides of their mouths? That's enough to make a cat laugh...

I liked McCain, for the most part.
Just think - the GOP could've nominated McCain in 2000. He too might've beat Al Gore, and then gone on to 8 yrs of a McCain administration. Instead, we got George W. Bush. Therefore, I have little problem proclaiming a great number of Republicans to be fucking stupid. They made McCain wait eight years behind Bush 43. Brilliant.

I doubt a McCain presidency would have been noticeably different from a Bush presidency.Ian wrote:I liked McCain, for the most part.
