Mmm....parliament has voted against British military action. Be interesting to see if the USA wants to get into a shooting war with just the French on their side.....kind of like the old days!

I don't think the lack of UK support would/will* bother the USA over much.

*"delete as applicable ..."

It will be interesting (to put it mildly) to see who exactly voted against this, especially in the Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties.

It will be even more interesting to see what happens if there are more mass chemical attacks in the following days ...

Watching BBC Newsnight just now, the politcking around this is just sickening.

Well, well, well. Defense Secretary on Newsnight just admitted the relationship with US will now be "strained". And categorically says, UK will not be involved in military action in Syria as a result.

What's happening? Westminister doing the right thing?

Helping out extrememist muzzies to fuck with the russians worked out so well in afghanistan. Lets do it again. :fp2:
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

John Cleese wrote: ALERTS TO THREATS
IN 2013 EUROPE

From JOHN CLEESE

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels ..

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is cancelled." So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.

Hell, one or two Arleigh Burke-class DDGs could probably take out everything Russia has in the Med right now, depending on how loaded they are with Tomahawks as opposed to other munitions.

I hope this is the case.

Militarily irrelevant but the US would have preferred for this to be an international effort, at least nominally, for PR reasons.

This could be Australia's chance to weasel its way in as the biggest suckhole amongst US allies! Yes! And Kev, our flailing PM, who is looking like being voted out in a bit over a week, could use a war to rustle up some votes. We should still have some dingies in the gulf patrolling. I wonder if any of them could land a projectile somewhere in Syria?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but over the course of the past couple of years, while Assad has been murdering his own people in various ways, haven't even just a few arab/muslim states said that they mildly disaprove of such things?
Saudis? UAE? Don't the US & UK sell them billions worth of fighter jets, tanks, artillery, missiles, etc every year?
So where are the fuckers? You don't want non-muslims coming into your part of the world sorting out your cluster-fucks, do it yourselves you cunts.
They complain that the West keeps picking on them - mainly because of their religion.

No, fucktards, not because of your religion. It's because you're all a buch of batshit crazy arsebiscuits who come out and riot in the thousands, torching embassies, murdering innocents and foaming at the mouth every time some nobody draws a fucking cartoon, which is obviously a much more heinous crime than the mass murder of children.

If the CIA spread a rumour that Assad named his teddy bear "Mohammad", they'd probably bomb Syria out of existence, then give it 50 lashes for good measure.

Sounds like a plan. Make it so.
