I think if the UK wants to keep the Falklands, they should start an immigration movement to populate the isles more.

I am quite happy working for the state and living in an area where lots of people work for the state. This is a wonderful part of the country that has given the world much of value, whatever some may think.

The UK wants the Falklands because they've been British for 200 years. I don't see what the UK has to gain from seeing the dispute continue. The UK would be much happier if Argentina would shut up about it.

UK don't have to take it seriously and probably know that this will come up every known and again until by some miracle that the islanders want to be ruled by Argentina that they won't shut up the argies and proven they will defend it and Argentinian politicians can get alot of miles out of it.

Therefor its mutually beneficial in a kind of messed up way UK keeps its territory keeps the islanders happy and the argentinians can use it for some nationalist rallying cry.

It's an appalling organ, and surely none of us can have forgotten "Gotcha!", a gloating and despicable headline over the story of the violent deaths of several hundred people. Its front page of today comes across to me as similarly jingoistic. But, this isn't an issue because the UK is taking it seriously. The UK is taking it seriously because it is a serious issue. The Argies actually invaded -- fired shots -- there was a war - about this in 1986. There is no reason that can't happen again. If they ignore it, then the Argies may think the UK doesn't care, and then they'll float some ships and troops over, and move in.
