The military piece is only part of the project. The Belt and Road initiative is a serious move toward greater economic and diplomatic leadership in the world.
That is the preferred road to dominance, and dominance is what every social/political power wants. It is doomed to failure without the backup of military clout, though.

Nuke 'em while we still can.
Attempt at humour, right? I'm sure it is, for you are not quite idiotic enough to be aware of the concept of MAD, mutually assured destruction.

Spare me your usual spiel about ground apes. It's become tedious a long time ago.

Yes, I read somewhere that "the supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting," and I think the Chinese appreciate this. It remains to be seen if their military expansion is in line with that approach as their nuclear strategy appears to be.

War has always been a last resort for gaining or defending a nation's power, and MAD has been the ultimate safeguard against another world war breaking out.

I wonder if China is thinking of creating a Greater Pan-Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere? Has a nice ring to it... :tea:

I don't know Jim, the last time someone tried that didn't go so well.

They'd have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky Imperialist Americans!
