Is the Spanish language offensive to trans people?
Re: Is the Spanish language offensive to trans people?
Same problem:
Pädagoge - Male
Pädagogin - Female.
Alternatives would be PädagogIn, Pädagog_in, Pädagog*in, Pädagoge/in, Pädagogex.

You simply need more words in German. 'Teacher' is a perfect good term for a teacher - feel free to import it. At least you don't have to worry about items of furniture being gendered like those weirdo Frenchies.

Yes, we do! All nouns have a gender in German just as in French, but grammatical gender of things is no social or political issue.

I think it's important to note the gender difference between male and female conservatives. Oh wait, all conservatives are old white males, or females that almost certainly have testicles tucked away somewhere...

Well, nobody is allowed to tell me how I'm supposed to feel, so if I feel made fun of, whoever is doing it needs to stop....rainbow wrote:Farty probably believes that the Spanish lisp is making fun of his sexuality.pErvin wrote:Oh man, FortyTwo has discovered that other languages have gendered nouns. ....or, maybe that only applies if one is a member of a marginalized group.
And, saying "Spanish lisp" is offensive. The lisp is Castillian. Implying that all Spanish speakers lisp is hate speech.

Deutsch!rainbow wrote:Gerpeople surely?Hermit wrote:Not as difficult as you make out. Just decree that "Lehrer" becomes gender neutral by virtue of being prefixed with "das". Germans ar notorious for being obedient. One or three generations from now nobody will even remember that Lehrer was originally reserved for male teachers unless they did a course in gender studies as a subset of some history class, and then, as they say, the problem will be academic.NineBerry wrote:Well, it is not so easy, because it is not only the articles and pronouns. Words in German have gendered word endings.
Use "neutral" instead of "neutrum" and the emotional baggage disappears. The transition should be easy. Germans are notorious for being sachlich.NineBerry wrote:Now considering articles and pronouns, using the neutrum forms "das", "es" etc would not work because it would turn persons into things.
....Homonym of douche.
And, I apologize for the use of the word "homonym" which is offensive to things which sound different than other things.

Suggesting that testicle-possession is aligned with maleness is hate speech. Biological parts are completely irrelevant to gender. Go write on the blackboard "I will not be cisnormative" 100 times. I'd ask you to take the chalk board erasers outside and clap them, but clapping is offensive.pErvin wrote:I think it's important to note the gender difference between male and female conservatives. Something that really irritates me is the current trend for referring to actresses as actors, as seen in lefty broadsheet papers and the like.
The purpose of language is to convey information, but if you saw a reference to "the actor Glenn Close", you may think she was a he, so it's just confusing the matter for no good reason at all.

Yes, if you were ignorant you would think 'Glenn' was a man's name.

Out of the 43 famous Glenns listed here, 42 of them are male.
