Maybe. Most of the "knockout" participants don't rob the victim, they just knock him (or her) out and leave. But if that had happened it wouldn't be the victim's fault or problem, he's the victim.

The victim's mistake was tactical. He should have exercised better situational awareness and not allowed the assailant to get that close to him in the first place.
Aren't gun laws in NJ strict?
Very, but evidently he's one of the few people with a CCW permit in New Jersey. Funny how the laws against tasers and assaulting people failed to stop the attack...but a lawfully-carried gun did.

Go figure... :thinks:

I favor the SIG 556P, which is a 5.56 SIG 556 rifle action with an 8 inch barrel and no stock, which is built as a handgun, which makes it perfectly legal for me to carry concealed. I have a custom shoulder rig for it that goes quite nicely under my trench coat. And if I want I can SBR it and file a Form 1, pay $200, wait 15 months and get the tax stamp to swap out the lower on my SIG 556 rifle with the folding stock and have a highly concealable short barreled rifle with 30 round magazine. I have that setup in case I should ever need to take a stroll in Philly or Detroit.

But, I've got a really cool semi-automatic combat shotgun on order that I'm going to have built as a short barreled shotgun. It's a Fostech Origin 12 multi-caliber shotgun. I bought the receiver last year at Knob Creek and I'm submitting the NFA forms soon. They have a waiting list for building the gun about a year long, so I should get the paperwork about the time they call me to send them the receiver to build the gun. It's a great system because they sell you the receiver, which is the numbered part, for $400. Then you have it and even if they change the law between when you bought it and when the gun is built you still get your gun built under the old rule. And I can have it built originally as an SBS which means I don't have to have my trust name engraved on it, which makes it more salable.

And my silencers should be in any week now.... :cheer:

Here's another little tidbit: In the US you can get a "passport card" from the government that can be used to go in and out of Mexico and Canada, but not for flying or coming back from other places (you need a real passport for that). Whenever the matter of presenting ID comes up I present my passport card, and when the clerk or bank teller or whatnot is surprised and confused by it I ask them what's NOT on the passport card that is on your driver's license. It usually takes a while and I often have to prompt them, but the answer is "your home address." I make it a particular point to tell ladies why they should get a passport card and never, ever show their driver's license to anyone but a cop during a traffic stop or to a judge in traffic court. For absolutely everything else ID-wise, the passport card (or an actual passport) is completely legal and acceptable ID that cannot be refused. So when some cute girl shows her passport card to the geek behind the convenience store counter rather than her driver's license, he can't memorize her home address and go stalk her.

Besides, if you do it right and cover the top of the card where it says "Passport Card" with your thumb when flashing it, many people will think it's a federal government employee ID, for what it's worth.

Someone needs to work on their aim. Someone should not be shot twice with a .40 and survive.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Last I heard, they're required by law to ID you regardless of how old you appear.

I was asked for pre beer ID in Virginia somewhere when I was 30. Didn't have any, didn't get any beer. And the restaurant staff watched me to make sure my mate didn't pass me any beer.

Yep. Should have set up a perimeter, with razor-wire and watchtowers - perhaps a few snipers and loads of attack-raptors. No punk would have got close then. :tea:
Nah, just situational awareness and good tactical movement would do the job. Just making eye contact with the thug as he approaches would probably do it.

Only mindless idiots walk around in an oblivious fog in public.
Unfortunately that doesn't always work. My son, who's pretty street=wise and has been attacked a few times, lives in a town where there is a gang with mafioso aspirations. You DO NOT make eye contact with them; they'll just knife or shoot you. Sometimes, you just have to know what's best for your survival, doesn't mean you're a coward.
Here's to Now.

Knockout Game Turns Deadly: 60 Year Old Woman Shoots and Kills 2 Teens After Being Punched

Police are still trying to piece together the events of Monday night after a woman was attacked and then fired shots into the crowd of teens that assulted her.

Beulah Montgomery, who just turned 60 yesterday, says she was walking home after purchasing lottery tickets when she says a group of teens, 7 of them, approached her. Montgomery initally thought they were going to attempt to steal her purse but says she was instead hit by one of the individuals as a second attempted to hit her. That's when she grabbed her gun.

"All I could feel was pain and I said to myself I had made it to 60 and I wanted to atleast see 61," she recalled. "Then I started praying and I asked the Lord to guide my hands" Montgomery says she then reached into her purse and and shot in the direction of the teens and they started to flee. However two of them didn't make without being hit.

Beulah who is a member of her local neighborhood watch said she has always carried a gun after being mugged once before. "Its a shame you can't walk through your own neighborhood where you are supposed to feel safe without being assulted and mistreated," she continues. "I purchased the gun hoping I would never have to use it, but I'm glad to still be in the land of the living."

The same cannot be said for her two victims, Montgomery fired 5 times hitting one of the teens in the chest and the other in the stomach. Because of their age police are not releasing the names at this time, but are saying the teens died as a result of the gun shot wounds. Police are still looking for the others teens who were apart of the group. Witnesses say they ran off after the gun shots were fired.

Police have not yet charged Montgomery, who has no prior arrests, but she was detained and later released.

This is the latest story in what seems to be a string of similar incidents happening over the US where teens are playing something called the "knockout game" where they approach strangers and attempt to knock them out with one punch.

Stay tuned for updates.

Good thing you didn't try to sneak a sip from your mate's beer. Police would have been called. You would have been tasered at the very least. Perhaps even before they shot you.

Regarding corners, even in the 1940's Germans developed sub machine guns that had bent barrels to fire around corners (or tank openings)

So the simple approach to corners is, you approach one with two guns, one straight one with a bent barrel .

You shout I'm armed reveal yourself, if they don't reveal themselves you use your corner gun. If they get shot well tough on them. If they are baddies they come around the corner and you shoot them with your normal gun
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

The only time I've been in America (I wasn't) I was shocked (I wasn't) to find that their so called "free speech" is nothing of the kind since I was charged with sedition (I wasn't) for saying someone should kill the president. I often wonder what happened to that Oswald guy.
