Well, yeah, trodding on property designated "no trespassing" is pretty much a good indicator that one is trespassing. It's not only reasonable suspicion, it's law enforcement witnessing the commission of an offense. They aren't going to just explain what their reasonable suspicion was for making an arrest -- they're going to be testifying as fact witnesses. It's like a cop witnessing a bar fight.
In England and Wales you can't ordinarily be arrested for trespass, as it's a civil matter. Also, you're not trespassing if you're simply wandering around on someone's property (even with a "no trespassing" sign). If, when asked to leave private land, you refuse/fail to do so within reasonable time and via a reasonable route... then you could be sued.

There are some provisions under the Criminal Justice and Public Order acts for criminal trespass.

This wasn't private property, which, of course, would be a civil matter. It was public land designated as off limits for public safety purposes. Like trodding on a department of defense secure site or a nuclear power plant's property. Criminal offense.

Yes, England would never have a homeland Security Service.... https://www.mi5.gov.uk/ https://www.sis.gov.uk/

Only in Merka are such things needed.

Hellfire, they come on my property I'll just shoot 'em. If they get past the moat, electrified fence and rabid pit bulls with lasers on their heads.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Aren't you in Florida? You ought to have alligators in that moat.

The moat is full of carnivorous manatees. I keep the alligators in the swimming pool, dissuades the neighborhood kids. Pythons are good for kebabs (tastes like chicken), boots and hatbands.

Religion of peace and goodwill checking the water supply out. Don't they ever give it a bleeding rest?

I was thinking it was reasonable suspicion of terrorism, lots of scientists hanging out around water supplies without a permit. Doesn't in anyway mean they are but taking the attitude of arrest them first ,cuff em and then work out the truth done the station is quite sensible
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

They were not arrested on any charge of terrorism, therefore, there was no need for there to be reasonable suspicion of terrorism. They're being investigated, and if anyone is found out to have been planning a terrorist attack, I'm sure there will be added charges, if not a federal indictment.

No need to arrest them for terrorism when they already have them dead to rights on trespassing. They're booked, in the system, passports probably in police custody. They were released, and are now probably being watched and monitored. They can get a warrant to tap their phones, get their phone records, and search their computers, based on an affidavit from a cop. But, there doesn't seem to be any reason to arrest them for terrorism. One does not need mere "reasonable suspicion" to arrest in the US. To arrest, we need "probable cause" -- which requires more than a mere reasonable suspicion that a suspect committed a crime, but not as much information as would be required to prove a suspect guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. A judge makes the final determination as to whether there is probable cause to arrest. To establish probable cause, police officers must be able to point to objective factual circumstances leading them to believe that a suspect committed a crime. Mere trespassing while Muslim would not be that.

Better to er on the side of caution though, rather than be the naive good guy dead in the gutter? :fp:

Given how many thousands are in that House, it's not completely out of the question. :tea:
