I don't know-- I get frustrated with these discussions. Yes, women should be valued for more than their looks. But if a woman (or girl) has really exemplary looks, why shouldn't she use that quality/talent? Most fashion models have a limited shelf-life, sure. But if they're lucky they'll make good money and see the world before the clock runs out. What's wrong with that? Same is true of dancers and most actresses and professional athletes-- but you don't see nearly the same levels of condemnation against kids pursuing those fields.

There's nothing inherently better about pursuing a career as a mathematician, or what-have-you. What's wrong is dissuading girls who have a real capability and interest in pursuing a career in math because that's not an "attractive" choice for a woman, or because women aren't supposed to be interested in that kind of work.

There are different talents and abilities-- why not celebrate the whole range?
Very much :this:

There are pros and cons to each profession and career.

For example, unlike a professional athlete, which in my opinion is celebrated ad nauseum, a model is less likely to get Alzheimer's or dementia from banging their heads around. Keeping that in mind, which would you rather your child chose?

I'm not into fashion, but I love looking at fashion magazines...I enjoy the art of the photography and the beauty of the models, both male and female. I've been loving it here in Paris, where they aren't nearly as uptight about nudity.

My cousin works as a manager for Celine, she loves it and makes beaucoup bucks.

Yes, I wouldn't worry your pretty little head about it.

Too bad too, because I have a friend who is looking for someone to play the part of Ken in the porn film, "Barbie does Ken".

Oh, wait, it's a job...nevermind.

Yeah-- you have to have balls to be the pope. They used to have a special ball-feeling chair for prospective popes to sit in and prove they had the cojones for the job.
