I agree that the destruction of the union should be a full referendum of the U.K. And I'd still rather be a tramp on my own terms than beholden to a nation of predominantly right wing has-been jingoists that have an over inflated sense of their own self importance on the world stage. think the real reason you lot want to keep on to Scotland has fuck all to do with tradition but the simple fact that without us you'd be under a tory government forever and you'd be Daily Mail Islands within the year.

Frankly I think you lot would be worse without us than we would without you, in the middle and term, still I'd be glad to see you lot go and have no doubt our independence might actually encourage other regions to split from the rule of the chinless landed gentry, spoilt nouveau riche and incontinent geriatrics we laughingly consider our Parliamentary system. If England Wales and NI get a vote on Scottish independence, doesnt that mean France Germany and Greece can vote in any UK referendum on EU membership?

If I was Alex Salmond I would hold the referendum a year early (as London wants) and only 1 question (as London wants).

That question being a straight choice between things staying as they are or Devo Max.

and keep the full Independence question in reserve for the next parliament / 5 years time - once everyone has realised that Scotland can run itself quite happily, a yes vote would then be a formality (at the moment a good chance it would be lost)......if he loses in 2014, then would be hard to ask the question again within 10 years.....slowly, slowly catchee monkey!

Personally I think Scotland would be stupid not to leave the UK, for hundreds a years it was a good move to be joined with the folks who had such an Empire - but those times are longggg past. It's kinda like asking whether Scotland wants a union with Belguim. or the Congo!

Salmond could try to hold that referendum, but the Westminster Parliament could just tell him to fuck off.
It's up to the UK Parliament to decide how the regions are governed.

I would like to see Labour or the Tories go into the next election with a clear promise to abolish the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh Assembly. Devolution was the most stupid thing that Labour have ever done. And it cost an absolute fortune.

Still he has been traditionally the voice for the poor Scottish fisherman...... oops they All just got caught in massive systematic fish quota and tax fraud

My plan for independence involves the de -criminalisation of drugs and prostitution and the Scottish banks adopting the 'don't ask don't tell 'approach to money just like Switzerland Tuvalu etc we would see not only half of England spending every penny they make each weekend Partying in Scotland but also many English companies suddenly become Scottish companies .

Oh and Homer (fight )...if you took the Scots out of the British army you would be left with nothing but a Guards regiment and a marching band they could march their shiny buttons up and down the Mall and get photographed by the tourists but fuckall else .

The other countries are not voting for our independence they would be voting to dissolve the union at which point self determination follows and we could enter into fairer negotiations with each other free of about 800 years of slanted historical antagonism. You know much like the rearrangement of Europe after the fall of the Soviet Union. Westminster's the U.K.'s politburo.
