They of course already have local councils. All they are doing by advocating independence is multiplying politicians.Svartalf wrote:Given the cultural disparity between various areas, discrete political entities seem to be the only logical answer... Re: Larf! SNP would want independence and the pound HAHA!
The reason is that he's lying. He would prefer a Scottish Pound - but realises that will need to enter the Eurozone, but that not an option at the moment and the less change he gives folks to wprry about the better - especially on things that people think they understand, but don't. Same goes for the Monarchy.....Rum wrote:Just watched slimy Salmond on Newsnight. He wants 'total' independence for Scotland but wants to stay with the pound Stirling rather than join the Euro.
I wonder why, the twat.
(when the Eurozone sorts it's shit out - and it will - will be all the more stable).
The reason that Salmond is such a good political operator is that he thinks ahead - London only thinks about next week, long term planning is about keeping fingers crossed and wishful thinking (ie the HS2 - will never happen, and should / needed to have happened 20 years ago).
Personally I think the English should let Scotland go independent.....and then invade it for the oil

He wants to be the Chávez of the North I feel. Regardless of whether Scots independence is generally a good idea, it's certainly a terrible idea with Salmond at the helm.Clinton Huxley wrote:He wants to be the fattest fish in a puddle...Rum wrote:I agree. I find the fact that he puts all his energy into a rather pointless exercise like Scots independence rather pathetic.Clinton Huxley wrote:Salmond is just a petty nationalist jackass and will say whatever plays best to his febrile constituency on the day.
They might as well alter their flag to feature two diagonally-crossed bananas to represent their new republic.
I guess the UK never did as thorough a job of suppressing regional identities as France did.Svartalf wrote:Given the cultural disparity between various areas, discrete political entities seem to be the only logical answer... When Yorkshiremen demand to be independent from the Geordies, you'll have a point
