As for Gary Glitter apart from drink driving the only offence he has been found guilty of in the UK is possessing child porn which he got 4 months for which taking into account the damage to his reputation and earnings probably isnt unreasonable.
The Vietnamese seem to have been a bit soft of him but it comes down to what can be proved and I havent exactly heard of of the Vietnamese being soft.
