If Liam Fox goes it will not be because
he is a married gay man but because he has
broken the Ministerial Code by allowing his best
friend Kevin Werritty access to the Ministry Of Defence
without relevant security checks. David Laws himself a gay
man had to resign this year because he too compromised himself
by not declaring that he owned a second property that he shared with
his partner. On the issue of homosexuality in the Conservative Party one
could only go after someone who was an open critic of it whilst secretly being
one but even here one would need to give them the benefit of the doubt as it may
be a coping mechanism and not a deliberate attempt at deception. Remember that many
in the Party are opposed to gay marriage in spite of the David Cameron speech to Conference.
So let us not be too hasty in condemning anyone right now. But rather just see what actually happens

Given the recent history of our politicians I am more than ready to be hasty - they appear pretty universally to be dishonest twats. I doagree with you about the area of wrongdoing of course. And to repeat, I have nothing against his sexuality, whatever it may be, just the dishonesty and how vulnerable it could make him.

What annoys me most when these situations come to light, is not that they've been caught in the act of hypocrisy, but that their consequent downfall is inevitably considered due to their immoral and/or hypocritical behaviour, and not the moralistic judgement of the culture that pressures them to behave in a certain right way, while forcing any deviation from that to be manifested in clandestine way

And yes to Charlou's point. A person's private life is private. A compromised, dishonest and deceitful life - and one that is getting out of control, if indeed that is happening does not make for a good senior government minister I would suggest.
