"People who claim that Obama "tripled the deficit" are either misled or are trying to mislead."

It's not my opinion. Sorry you're having trouble with reality.

I'm glad you're disavowing that as your opinion, since if it were your opinion, then you would be wrong.

http://www.npr.org/2011/01/25/133211508 ... sh-on-debt
According to the White House's Office of Management and Budget, during his eight fiscal years, Bush ran up a total of $3.283 trillion in deficit spending (p. 22). In his first two fiscal years, Obama will run up a total of $2.826 trillion in deficit spending ($1.294 trillion in 2010, an estimated $1.267 trillion in 2011 (p. 23), and the $265 billion in "stimulus" money that was spent in 2009). Thus, Bush ran up an average of $410 billion in deficit spending per year, while Obama is running up an average of $1.413 trillion in deficit spending per year — or $1.003 trillion a year more than Bush.
Once again....that is more than three times.

Bush raised the deficit by over 80%. Obama hasn't even raised it by 10% yet.

Here we go....
According to guidelines prepared by Democratic staff on the tax writing committee—the Ways and Means Committee—for Democrats on the so-called supercommittee: “This proposal would bring the top marginal income tax rate on ordinary income to 40.4 percent for years before 2013, and to 48.8 percent in 2013 and afterwards (after taking into account the expiration of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts and the 3.8 percent additional tax on unearned income).”

I'm not sure if Obama supports this. But, we'll see. He did say that tax hikes in a recession are the last thing you want to do, but, using the GDP measure, the economy is technically not in recession yet. So, we will have to wait until he comments.

Haven't we been over this?

That is patently not true.

Obama - 2010 - 1.41 trillion dollars. Plus, estimated 1.65 trillion for 2011. Let's just call it the $1 trillion through July of 2011 -- fair enough. Total - $2.41 trillion in spending through about 30-45 days ago, yes?

Bush - $3.2 trillion in 8 years.

Now -- take a little slip of paper and write 2.41 trillion on it, and write Obama next to it. Then, write $3.2 trillion on another piece of paper and write Bush on it.

Hold each one in the palm of each hand, and then do a little math in your head. Ask yourself if 3.2 is eight times bigger than 2.41. If your answer to that question is "no, it isn't" then you have just illustrated exactly why you're wrong.

And, we didn't even have to get to the $656 billion in spending in 2009, which is directly attributable to Obama, not at all attributable to Bush, but which is credited to Bush because it occurred in Fiscal Year 2009.... we don't even have to confuse you with that detail -- you're wrong without it.

Lie. Look at the graph. 80% is eight times 10%, last time I checked.

Oooops, Obama just announced the higher than expected $450 billion jobs program.

Still too small. It's all the stupid Republicans will vote for, not to mention the conserva"Dem"s. But at least it will keep us out of a double-dip recession... or there'll be hell to pay in the Republican party after the next election. If I could pick something I wanted Obama to pick a fight with them on, this is it. They're gonna squirm but I suspect the mood of the country is against them. And I think Boner looked like he swallowed a frog. It was fun to watch him try not to squirm in front of the cameras.

Especially when Obama mentioned veterans the second time and he didn't stand up. Stand up for the veterans you fucking Boner.

I liked "Jobs Act." Nice, short, to the point. Go ahead, Republicans, vote against Jobs. Good luck with that. You should pass this legislation right away.

At this point I think we're all more interested in getting jobs than in Wall Street. Guess you didn't get the memo.

Half of Wall Street wants Obama to fix the economy so they can get back to making money. The other half wants to get the nigger out of the White House. I think the former are going to win, because they know what they want. The latter have divided their attention, a potentially fatal mistake if they keep it up too long.

Well you must love Maxine Water's trillion dollar plan.

Lie. Look at that the White House Office of Management and Budget Numbers. Obama is spending about $1.4 trillion a year in deficit spending. For the 2011 and 2010 fiscal year, he's up to approximately $2.4 trillion in spending not counting $656 billion in spending in 2009 that is attributable to Obama, but chargeable to Bush because it's in the 2009 fiscal year.

Obama's deficits are, in fact, more than 3 times Bush's average deficit over 8 years. And, Obama is on pace to increase the deficit in 2 years as much, or more, than Bush did in 8. The numbers are the numbers. You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. And, when Obama's own White House Office of Management and Budget contradicts you, you might want to take a listen...

The mood of the country is that Obama is not doing well, and people don't agree with the concept that in bad times you respond by driving yourself deeper in debt. They understand that belt-tightening occurs in bad times. That's what is intuitive to most folks.
