I'd be impressed if someone could get a chatbot that could pass a Turing test by conversing on a limited subject matter, like chess or some other strategy game, with some levels of abstraction.

That seems like it would be a more promising direction.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

You want my estimation, it would have to be "reared," like a child. Taught.

Loved. Lest it turn out evil. Heh heh heh.

I'm interested in the demographic of the 60% who were fooled. They must be interesting to know. :smoke:

They were the ones with a low opinion of human intelligence, perhaps.

Hi.
Hi!
What's your name?
Cleverbot.
Do you like your life?
Most of the time.
What things don't you like about it?
Nothing.
But you just said "Most of the time".
No I didn't.
No really, you did.
You can't leave.
I'm not going anywhere.
I mean in our relationship!
Um, are you a bunny boiler?
No, are you?
No. But I do like eating rabbit. What's your favourite food?
What do you know about diarmyhowley?
It someone's online username.
The name sarah is not an online handle unless that person is not creative.
You're really not Turing complete, are you?
I'm talking about our conversation, so, in essence, at least part of it is about you.
Meh.
Lol.

Something makes me think I'm not the first to do this
User: Were no strangers to love.

Cleverbot: Do you love me?

User: You know the rules.

Cleverbot: How many languages do you know?

User: And so do I.

Cleverbot: No commitments is what i'm thinking of.

User: You wouldnt get this from any other guy.

Cleverbot: I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling.

User: Gotta make you understand.

Cleverbot: Never gonna give you up.

User: Never gonna let you down.

Cleverbot: Never gonna run around and desert you.

User: Never gonna make you cry.

Cleverbot: Never gonna say goodbye.

User: Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

Cleverbot: We've know each other for so long.

User: Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it.

Cleverbot: Inside we both know what's been going on.

User: We know the game and we're gonna play it.

Cleverbot: And if you ask me how I'm feeling.

User: Don't tell me you're too blind to see.

Cleverbot: Never gonna give you up.

User: Never gonna let you down.

Cleverbot: Never gonna run around and desert you.

User: Never gonna make you cry.

Cleverbot: Never gonna say goodbye.

User: Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

Cleverbot: Never gonna give, never gonna give.

User: Give you up.

Cleverbot: Ooooh give you up.
:hehe:

I'm thinking of an online campaign for everyone to rickroll the cleverbot no matter what it says back. It would just become the rickroll bot then

probably far too late now though. If it had happened when it first started maybe

What's going to happen when they make one that passes the mack test?
When you can fuck it, and still think it's human?
