Seraph's political compass
Economic Left/Right: -7.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.05
Some propositions were really difficult to answer without being able to add a qualifier.
Also, I find the use of "libertarian" as opposed to "liberal" objectionable. To me the former reeks of an economic (and hence social) right wing Friedmanism, a reprehensible combination of laizzes faire capitalism and the delusion that every individual is an almost completely autonomous entity.

Likewise. My understanding of it is it's the type of mindset that allows people to suffer and die due to lack of medical care, based on their inability to afford adequate health cover. It's ethically no better than the Hindu belief in 'karma', or people getting what they "deserve".

Well, the Political Compass is run by Brits, so I don't know why they use the word "libertarian." I personally think it is a perfect word to use as the opposite of Authoritarian. The FAQ does go through quite a few objections of this type.

The explanation is on the page you linked to: "
In the United States, "liberals" are understood to believe in leftish economic programmes such as welfare and publicly funded medical care..." In the end it is just a semantic quibble. I just don't feel comfortable with the use of "libertarian" because I associate the term with laissez faire capitalism and the rabidly conservative social policies that it tends to give rise to. The epitome of it is
Thorhalland over at RDN.

A right little Gandhi I am.

Similar to Seraph's, actually. I gather you and he must have gone mostly with '
strongly agree/disagree' in your choices?
I went with simply agree or disagree on all the statements except the statements regarding religion and sex. For most of those I went with '
strongly agree/disagree'. Pretty obvious what I'm most passionate about.

Yes, if something was ambiguous I would say agree or disagree. Anything I knew was right or wrong was "strongly agree/disagree".

I did this over at TAF, I think. My red dot was in the same place as most of the red dots here.

Another fucking Gandhi I'm afraid.
There were a lot of questions where I was genuinely ambivalent/centrist and would have picked a neutral option had one existed. I tended to go left of centre on most of these which probably skewed the results.
