Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice

Big voter purges in Wisconsin and Georgia. I'm sure this is all innocent, routine housekeeping, and not a part of a larger effort to suppress the vote.

Wisconsin plans to purge 234,000 voters; Democratic governor won by 30,000

Judge allows Georgia to purge 309K voter registrations overnight

Yes. A flawed democracy to be precise.

problem is that the flaws were in the fruit from the start, and they have only grown, doing so to the point that now it's a mock democracy.

It's easy to sit at a keyboard and throw rhetorical brickbats. Taking time to understand various measures of democracy would undermine such facile sneering, so I offer a means of gaining this understanding with practically no belief that any will avail themselves of the opportunity. Access to the report from the EIU (the source for the Independent article linked above) requires signing up for a free account. Eliminating that minimal hurdle, I'm providing a link to the report on Dropbox. In the appendix to the report there is a useful discussion of how political scientists understand and measure democracy, as if it would make the slightest difference to those who feel most comfortable with ill-informed contempt.

That report is cobblers. It comes from the Economist which is a right wing think tank run by the tories. It just tries to justify the very flawed system of FPTP. The UK is described as a full democracy (!) which is rubbish. Johnson only got 45% of the vote so just how is that democratic plus the restrictions laid down to register to vote. Also it has an unelected first house which no other country has. Not all votes are equal thanks to gerrymandering.

You dont have to have an account to use it. I looked at the very biased report. The EIU is a well known right wing think tank that lacks any recognition. You might as well quote Breibart.

Opinion from a questionable source, absent of substantive critique. No superior or more reliable source cited. Par for the course.

Anything is superior to the EIU. Like I said quote Breibart or Fox News. It is not reliable and very biased but if you are willing to accept right wing propaganda good luck. Just look at countries in Europe that are not full democracies. Strange bedfellows indeed while the UK is? To cause confusion bring in the "scientists". Seen that somewhere before?
