Funny. I never saw myself as unbalanced. I find martial arts has the opposite effect, except, curiously, MMA which attracts and churns out arseholes. Understanding the body and how easily it is to seriously injure or kill people makes you more reluctant to get in fights, not less. Only a psycho who doesn't value his or anyone else's life chooses the path most dangerous to himself and others. He'll be the one found rotting in a cell or under the foundations with the rest of them.

Most martial artists I know are pretty laid back people. Maybe knowing you can handle yourself in a potentially dangerous situation is calming? I don't know, martial arts (like damn near any other physical activity) is too strenuous and boring for me. I'll just carry a gun.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Wow, Mack is still going on this?
these are things we think we know
these are feelings we might even share
these are thoughts we hide from ourselves
these are secrets we cannot lay bare.

How so? Because I choose to serve up a heaping helping of vitriol and insult towards the UK in response to similar insults hurled at the US? It's just pure tit for tat retribution for the anti-American idiocy spouted here so often.

Sauce, goose, gander.
It wasn't that vitriolic. Any redneck could have penned same and indeed did.

Most martial artists I know are overweight and just want to get a bit fitter, this being more interesting that kicking a ball (thinking of signing up myself). As you have seen plenty of British Friday night fights the idea of using karate or jujitsu for self defence is very silly it just turns into a drunken brawl with about as much style or grace asProfessor Stephen Hawkings doing breakdancing.

The only real self defence you need is don't go to badly lit places on your own, if you hear a fight go the other way and if you visit Turkey don't wipe your arse on their flag (someone got murdered over that)

Dunno... in a self defense thread, I assumed that a green belt would be a judo thing :razzle:

That's such fucking nonsense, and if a Brit is not upset about this law, then I don't want to here fuck-all from that Brit about American immigration laws. No room to talk. Your fucking government doesn't have even claim that the person would AGAINST the public good, or "harmful" in any way, or that the advocate unlawful violence, or that they want to incite anything. All you have to do is have some fucking bureaucrat say the is not "conducive" to public good. LOL. What a joke.

And, did you ever listen to the Muslim immigrants you have ranting all over your fucking island? I mean, those guys ADVOCATE killing people in the name of Allah. No biggie. This guy says "innnocent people should be able to defend themselves, even with martial art techniques that hurt their attackers" and you ban the guy for not being "conducive to the public good."

Christ on a flippin' bicycle....

Man you do go on about this. I think you miss the point. We've known our Governments are a bad fucking joke for a long time, we just LOVE that in the U.S. people don't seem to get that yours have been too and for a lot of people in Europe they like to wind you up about it because the more you defend a system by comparing it favourably to ours the funnier it is. It's like your saying "Oh yeah, well your shit has more flies on it, so there!"

I suppose it's a form of trolling.

As for the law, I think we'd be more upset if we actually were dumb enough to have faith in the corporate P.R. agents we vote in.

I have absolutely no idea what you were implying, and I doubt that you do either.

Whoops. Apologies. I do know what I'm implying, but for some reason I keep confusing you with MrJonno. ;)

If it was balanced people who were likely to go to this guy's seminars, the government would have no reason to ban him.
So the government obviously agrees with me.

It's therefore clearly the official UK government position, that martial arts fans are unbalanced loonies.

You don't need to take my word for it, it's official.
All this means is that your whole fucking government is loony, right along with all the inhabitants.
Seth, you can't argue with the logic in mistermack's post.
I believe I just did argue with his logic. It's the same stupid pseudo-logic used to justify gun bans, which boils down to "Some bad/deranged person might make use of this knowledge to hurt someone, so we must try to deny this information to everyone, sane or deranged, regardless of their legitimate need for the information, on the premise that prohibition will prevent bad/deranged people from making wrongful use of the information." Of course, the idiocy inherent in this pseudo logic is that prohibition never prevented anyone intent on accessing knowledge (or objects) from doing so, and prohibition in this case only serves to leave law abiding people who might find a legitimate need for such information to defend themselves against the deranged/bad persons in society without the resources, equipment and knowledge they need to defend their lives and safety.
