Re: Osama bin Laden: Dead
I doesn't make much difference ,some will claim it is a lie even if they see his long form death certificate .

It's easier to prove a living man died than a dead one has died twice. Especially if you bury the evidence(or lack of evidence) at sea. Anyway I want a living dead pope icon, can it be supplied?Feck wrote:I doesn't make much difference ,some will claim it is a lie even if they see his long form death certificate .

Re: Osama bin Laden: Dead
I listen to NPR news this morning and they announced that DNA has been taken before they dumped him.Obama's speech was good, but I was hoping to hear that the body had been confirmed with DNA evidence.

Also, from what I heard in the news, they didn't want his grave to become like some kind of holy site by the terrorist, that's why they dumped him at sea.Mousy wrote:I read somewhere today that burial at sea is considered an acceptable Islamic burial if there is fear that an enemy may dig up the body to mutilate it? I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Re: Osama bin Laden: Dead
I would have thought with the international nature of the atrocities committed by Bin Laden, and the uniqueness of circumstance, that the bench for forensic identity verification would be higher than a swab and throwing the body in the ocean? I would have thought a international team of DNA testing/forensic experts would go through meticulous identity verfication so that no doubt could remain, in a court of law, before disposal? As for keeping his final location secret - that would still be quite possible after a full forensic analysis. Would you expect this speedy disposal of the evidence in a crime scene in your area?kiki5711 wrote:I listen to NPR news this morning and they announced that DNA has been taken before they dumped him.Obama's speech was good, but I was hoping to hear that the body had been confirmed with DNA evidence.

Not sure about this because it would create a whole new world wide scandel, I think. According to islam law, it appears body has to be buried within 2 days or whatever. So, if they kept the body for further forensic investigation, I think it would cause more trouble than it's worth.Crumple wrote:I would have thought with the international nature of the atrocities committed by Bin Laden, and the uniqueness of circumstance, that the bench for forensic identity verification would be higher than a swab and throwing the body in the ocean? Outdated cartoon is outdated. Today's scapegoat is bin Laden.

Burial at sea should only happen if you die at sea and there's a direct health risk from decay to other members of the ships crew. Did he die at sea and had he begun to decompose? If their gonna do Islamic arse licking do it right?kiki5711 wrote:Not sure about this because it would create a whole new world wide scandel, I think. Re: Osama bin Laden: Dead
Well, that's the odd distinction that has arisen over the last 2 1/2 years....if bin Laden had surrendered, we'd have to try him in a civilian court, but since we shot him in the head without a trial, he can be dumped in the ocean summarily.Crumple wrote:I would have thought with the international nature of the atrocities committed by Bin Laden, and the uniqueness of circumstance, that the bench for forensic identity verification would be higher than a swab and throwing the body in the ocean? Re: Osama bin Laden: Dead
here's why
it's so obvious
It's justification for the illegal detention and inhumane treatment of victims in GITMO.
Files were released last week outlining everything that happened there and the chain of responsibility etc etc

Was listening to the car radio on my way home from work earlier and heard a few 'man on the street' comments from Americans celebrating the news .... one gormless, excited guy, practically crying with joy: "this is the end of terrorism in the world!!!"
