Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Yeah.. and your point is?Coito ergo sum wrote:If two trained police officers can't cuff a paraplegic who is sitting in a wheelchair without faceplanting him into the sidewalk, the cops ought to be fired for incompetence. They know how to cuff the guy.
Police Academy - Cuffing a Suspect 101:
Step 1) Curb job that motherfucker
Step 2) Grind his/her face into the concrete
Step 3) If suspect continues to resist go to step 2
Step 4) If suspect still shows signs of consciousness, apply TASER - Maximum setting (This applies for minors too)
Step 5) Cuff that sack of shit
Step 6) Mumble out the bits of the Miranda rights you can remember to the unconscious scumbag
Step 7) Shove the scumbag into backseat of cruiser - extra points for 'accidentally' closing the door against his/her head/feet/knee (head preferred)
Yep. They know how to cuff a guy.

My point is that any cops that can't cuff a guy with no working legs who is stuck in a wheelchair without dragging him out and faceplanting him ought be fired.

I have a definite theory that in France, and possibly other places, there are only two categories of people who become policemen : utter morons who could not do anything else, and power freaks who thrive on the authority (especially when used the way THEY deem best); combining both a plus.

Anyone who is an asshole when people are going out of their way to be nice needs to kiss pavement.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Re: Attitudes towards the police
I know one guy who started working with troubled youth and eventually became a cop because that's where he thought he could do the most good.
I know a woman who, as a cop, did more than all the local progressive groups combined to raise awareness about date rape back in the '80s. She spoke out in the newspapers, on TV, on the radio and she gave public talks.
I know another woman who pulled over a biker reeking of pot. The gave him a clove cigarette and ordered him to smoke it before any of her coworkers arrived. He complied and stayed out of jail.
If are getting systematically harassed by the police, it is probably not the police themselves making that decision. It is the ordinary taxpaying voting public that is at the root of the problem. Chances are the police in the above situation didn't give a fuck about that dude drinking. But some people find it disturbing to see people drinking in public, so they bitch to the mayor who bitches to the chief of police who bitches to... You know how shit rolls downhill.

Transit cops people who failed the pig exam and still got a stick up their arse about it......they are truly fuckwits the world over.Coito ergo sum wrote:The friendly neighborhood po'-leece....sworn to serve and protect.... http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local ... 19.html?dr

Yeah? Well I know a dealer who sells crack, meth, coke, E, and just about everything you can think of that is on the prohibited substances list that people like to take, who collects pennies in a jar all year to give to Unicef.Robert_S wrote:I know one guy who started working with troubled youth and eventually became a cop because that's where he thought he could do the most good.

He may have been right. He might have done more good providing a foster-home for at-risk teens, though...or collecting money for Oxfam...Robert_S wrote:I know one guy who started working with troubled youth and eventually became a cop because that's where he thought he could do the most good.
Sounds a bit self-serving to me. I know of a fellow who saved BILLIONS of lives by the time I was born, and has been doing more ever since. I also have it on good authority that he NEVER beat up a paraplegic for not listening to him.Robert_S wrote: I know a woman who, as a cop, did more than all the local progressive groups combined to raise awareness about date rape back in the '80s. Sounds like a cop being a criminal to me. Not exactly the best example. And why did she just happen to have clove cigarettes on her? How did she know it was a remedy for pot-stink? What should a police officer do if said officer witnessed this transaction? I mean I know the goons from this video would simply kick her to the ground, but what would a good cop do?Robert_S wrote: I know another woman who pulled over a biker reeking of pot. I know that folks who are lazy claim that shit rolls downhill. As someone at the bottom of that hill, I can tell you that it rolls uphill MUCH more effectively.Robert_S wrote:

If a transit cop chooses to injure people unnecessarily, then they are a fucking thug. Yes, even if the injured party is drunk, criminal AND an asshole. Who do you suppose should pay to have the injury repaired? The idiot who was too stupid to comply quickly? The goons who picked him up out of his chair (why?) and tossed him to the ground? Santa?
I noticed that you did not accept my 'dare' to go confine yourself to a wheelchair to get a taste of what was going on. Why not? I think getting drunk then trying to catch a train without the use of your legs would help you more fully understand the situation. (other than from the transit-cop point-of-view, I mean)

Only point I can see is that there are exceptions to every rule. I am sure there are really nice people who are religious fundamentalists too, doesn't make what they do any better or change the fact that the majority are fuckwits.PordFrefect wrote:Yeah?
